Formula 1 heads to Austria this Sunday, June 29th, with the Austrian Grand Prix. The green flag drops at 9:00 am ET, with live coverage via ESPN.
The Red Bull Ring is a 2.68-mile track featuring just 10 corners, making it the shortest lap on the calendar. This circuit sits between the mountains with plenty of elevation changes and is known for producing wheel-to-wheel action thanks to three DRS zones. It’s a track where Max Verstappen has dominated with five career wins, but McLaren’s pace advantage this weekend has been undeniable. Pirelli brought the softer compounds (C3-C5), and most teams should run a two-stop strategy. Expect fireworks for round 11 of the 2025 championship.
Let’s race into Spielberg with some F1 predictions, picks and betting odds.
2025 Austrian Grand Prix Odds
Now at -250 odds, the implied probability for Lando Norris comes in at 71.43%. Charles Leclerc sits at 11.11% from the front row, while Max Verstappen faces long odds at 6.67% from seventh.
Can Norris finally convert his dominant weekend into a victory in this 71-lap affair? We drop our predictions and picks below.

Austrian Grand Prix Predictions
Fans should expect mostly sunny weather during the race with temperatures around 79 degrees greeting the racers Sunday morning in Spielberg. There’s a slight chance of rain, but it looks unlikely to affect the race.
Lando Norris absolutely crushed qualifying with a half-second margin over Charles Leclerc, marking the biggest pole advantage of the season. The Brit dominated every single session this weekend, topping FP2, FP3, Q1, Q2, and Q3. It’s the kind of performance we haven’t seen from him since Australia.
The big story from qualifying was the late yellow flag that ruined final runs for Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen. Pierre Gasly’s spin at the final corner meant both championship contenders had to abandon their laps, leaving Verstappen way down in seventh and Piastri unable to improve from third.
Ferrari’s upgrade package looks promising with Leclerc on the front row and Hamilton starting fourth, his best grid position of the season. Meanwhile, Gabriel Bortoleto stunned everyone by making Q3 for the first time, breaking Sauber’s duck for the year.
When it comes to the Red Bull Ring, expect drama and safety cars. Every race here since 2020 has featured at least one, and with drivers likely pushing hard through the gravel traps, Sunday should be no different.
2025 Austrian GP Race Winner Pick
- Lando Norris (-250 at BetMGM)

Yes, -250 is heavy juice. But sometimes you have to pay for dominance, and Norris has been absolutely untouchable this weekend. He topped every single session by significant margins, and his pole lap was a masterclass, beating Leclerc by over half a second. That’s the biggest qualifying margin we’ve seen all year.
Here’s why the price is justified: three of the last five pole sitters have won at the Red Bull Ring, and that number would likely be four if not for last year’s Verstappen-Norris collision. The McLaren has been the class of the field all season, and this track’s characteristics play perfectly to their strengths with those flowing high-speed sections.
Norris’s main threats all have significant disadvantages. Piastri couldn’t set a final Q3 lap due to yellow flags, Verstappen starts way back in seventh with a car he called “undriveable,” and while Leclerc’s on the front row, Ferrari simply doesn’t have McLaren’s race pace.
When you factor in Norris’s motivation after his Canada mishap and his perfect weekend so far, -250 actually feels conservative. His engineer didn’t even wait for Q3 to end before calling pole position over the radio, saying “the car was pretty damn beautiful.”
2025 Austrian Grand Prix Longshots Odds
Leclerc is Top F1 Longshot Pick
Charles Leclerc at +800 offers intriguing value for those looking beyond the favorite. The Monegasque driver starts on the front row after qualifying just half a second behind Norris, and Ferrari’s new floor upgrade has clearly improved their pace. He won here in 2022, breaking Mercedes and Red Bull’s stranglehold on this track.
What makes Leclerc appealing is the high probability of safety cars at this circuit. If the race gets neutralized at the right moment, that half-second gap to Norris disappears. Ferrari’s excellent pit crew could gain him track position, and we’ve seen Leclerc defend brilliantly when leading races. Plus, he’s been building momentum with podiums in two of the last three races.
Verstappen at +1400 is also worth considering given his five wins at this track. Starting seventh isn’t ideal, but if there’s early chaos or strategic opportunities, nobody capitalizes better than Max. The four-time champion complained about an “undriveable” car in qualifying, but we’ve seen him overcome worse.
- 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Long Shot Prediction: Charles Leclerc (+800 at BetMGM)
Austrian GP: Podium Finish Odds
Lewis Hamilton at even money for a podium feels like tremendous value. He’s starting fourth in his best qualifying performance for Ferrari, and he was genuinely upbeat after the session, praising the team’s operations and the new floor upgrade. The seven-time champion hasn’t stood on a podium all season, matching his longest drought in F1.
Remember, this is a track where overtaking is very possible with three DRS zones. Hamilton just needs to pass one of the top three to cash this bet, and with Verstappen charging from seventh, there could be plenty of action that opens doors. Plus, Ferrari’s strong tire management at this track historically gives Hamilton a real shot at maintaining position or even gaining spots through strategy.
- 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Podium Prediction: Lewis Hamilton (+100 at BetMGM)
Other props worth watching include the fastest lap market where Norris at +150 looks appealing given his weekend dominance. The race classification bet for 1st Norris, 2nd Piastri, 3rd Leclerc at +200 mirrors the starting grid and could easily hold.
For a different angle, consider both McLaren cars to score points at -700 or the winning margin over 10 seconds at +900 if Norris pulls away as expected. Good luck racing fans and I’ll be watching right with you.
