Charles Leclerc may not be favored to win the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix but he could very well win at Monaco again Sunday.

  • Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix takes place this Sunday from the Circuit de Monaco in Monaco
  • Charles Leclerc won the practices but Lando Norris stole the pole.
  • Below, see my Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix expert predictions, start time, and more.

Formula 1 heads to Monaco this Sunday, May 25th, with the Monaco Grand Prix. The green flag drops just after 9:00 am ET, with live coverage via ESPN.

The Circuit de Monaco is a 2.074-mile street track. This course has 19 turns and bluntly can get quite technical. It is a course that Charles Leclerc excels at. One of the biggest changes is a mandatory two pit stop minimum. Could that level the playing field or help teams like Ferrari? One thing is for sure, teams will have to use all three sets of tires. Expect some fireworks for the eighth round of the 2025 championship.

Let us race into Monaco with some picks and a little extra.

2025 Monaco Grand Prix Odds

DriverWinTop 2Top 4
Lando Norris (McLaren)-150-350-1400
Charles Leclerc (Ferrari)+240-175-1200
Oscar Piastri (McLaren)+550-110-1100
Max Verstappen (Red Bull)+1800+265-800
Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari)+2200+1800+115
Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin)+8000+3000+350
Liam Lawson (Red Bull)+15000+6500+2200
Isack Hadjar (RB)+15000+5500+600
Esteban Ocon (Haas)+15000+8000+8000
Alexander Albon (Williams)+15000+8000+4000

Now at -150 odds, the implied probability for Lando Norris comes in at 60%, with Max Verstappen now at 5.26%. Finally, Charles Leclerc is at 29.41%. Does the 19 turn course give the McLarens an edge or can Charles Leclerc win this 78-lap affair?

Monaco Grand Prix Picks

People should expect mostly sunny weather during the race. Temperatures close to 70 degrees should greet the racers in the early afternoon in beautiful Monaco. Course knowledge tilts slightly around to Charles Leclerc and Ferrari. However, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have the late sector speed with the McLaren. Then again, the mandatory two pit stops add its own intrigue. Ferrari has the fastest pit stops in the business. Can that help Leclerc steal a victory here?

The Ferrari camp literally had this pole in their grasp. It would crush a lesser driver but this may only embolden Leclerc more. Remember, he was faster in that initial sector. The French driver could snag first right back. After all, it is the race to turn number one. Leclerc knows that well at Monaco. If anyone is going to supplant Norris here or Piastri, it is likely to be Leclerc. It is like people forget he won this last year.

Sunday again could feature the podium double for McLaren if things go as expected but a 1-2 feels less likely for some reason. Track strategy favors the Ferrari and even Verstappen will be lurking looking to lick his wounds.

When it comes to Monaco expect the unexpected. Could Norris get caught like Piastri did last week in Italy? Never say never when it comes to Formula 1.

2025 Monaco Grand Prix Leader After 1 Lap

DriverODDS
Lando Norris-600
Charles Leclerc+300
Oscar Piastri+900
Max Verstappen+1800
Lewis Hamilton+6500

Like I said earlier, Verstappen had about the same numbers last week and he found a way to get around Piastri in turn one. If it can happen once, it is possible again. At the very least. Monaco offers enough technical parts to give a pass on lap one a fighting chance.

Monaco GP: Safety Car?

With 78 laps, the inevitable safety car feels like it should rear its ugly head. However, the number is being dangled at least from the no side. One of the easier props might be that fastest pit stop again. Ferrari is at -140 once more. Good luck racing fans and I will be watching right with you.
