Harvick Once Again Favored

We went through this last year with Kyle Busch as he was on such a roll that he was worth betting each week – and that’s the case with Harvick right now.

Over the last six races, he’s finished no worse than fifth, going fifth, third, fourth, first, second and first.

Harvick also does pretty well at Kansas Speedway. He’s the got the second-best average finishing position (9.79) of any active driver. Although his last three results are ninth, 13th and 12th, he finished in the top eight spots in eight of the 10 races before that – including two wins.

He’s led at least 10 laps in 11 of the last 13 starts here, so he’s a good bet to be in contention.

Chase Elliott Looks Like a Good Bet

Elliott doesn’t have a long history in Kansas – he’s made just eight starts here – but the recent results have been fantastic.

He has placed second, fourth and first in his last three starts – placing fourth or better in four of his last five. The lone miss was a 12th.

Elliott has been up and down of late, finishing 12th at Texas last week but winning the All-Star Race before that. He now has five results in the top five in his last 10, but he’s also finished 11th or worse in the other five starts, and 23rd or worse in three of them. I’ll be looking for a Top 10 result from him this week.

Past Five Winners at Super Start Batteries 400

Year Driver
2019 Brad Keselowski
2018 Kevin Harvick
2017 Martin Truex Jr.
2016 Kyle Busch
2015 Jimmie Johnson

Kurt Busch for a Top 10

Although Kyle Busch will be among the favorites, I wouldn’t be surprised if his brother Kurt finishes better than him here. Kurt Busch has placed in the top eight spots in four of his last five starts here and seven of his last 10. Kyle has finished 10th or worse in three of his last five starts, although he looking further out, he’s been in the top five in seven of the last 10.

Kurt Busch is coming off an eight-place result at Texas and has now finished eighth or better in two of the last three races. I like how he’s been performing this year and while he’s rarely competing for wins, he’s been finishing in the Top 10 with some consistency (11 Top 10’s in 18 races). That’s why I’ll be looking at him for a Top 10 prop.
