We nailed three of our four NASCAR picks last week, including Kevin Harvick winning outright. Let’s see if we can do it again.

Kyle Busch Has Good History At Bristol

The fact that Busch hasn’t won a race since early June should actually provide more reason to take a chance on him this weekend. While Busch’s incredible winning pace was bound to slow down at one point or another, there are several reasons why we are predicting a bounce back this weekend.

First of all, Busch has owned Bristol Motor Speedway for most of his career including outright victories in three of his last four starts here overall. Second, Busch has won this particular race on three different occasions.

Third, Busch has added to his impressive resume at Bristol in both the Xfinity Series and the Truck Series to push his overall total to 14 combined victories at this track. His 7.0 average finish on short tracks – with six wins – is the best of any driver since 2017. He’s a good bet here.

Kurt Busch For A Top 10

The elder Busch brother hasn’t been nearly as successful as his brother this season. However, the one thing the two Busch brothers have in common is their dominance at Bristol over the years. Kurt will enter this weekend as the defending champion at the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race.

He’s also a two-time winner at this event and was also a runner-up in the first Bristol race last year. He’s also finished fifth or better in five of his last 10 starts at this track, as well as three Top 10’s in his last five. I’ll be looking at him for a Top 10 prop this week.

Can Erik Jones Sneak Into The Top 10?

Sticking with another potential sleeper pick, Jones is a driver who is just inside the playoff cutoff line that’s looking to solidify his status as a real contender. Jones has yet to win this season but he already has eight Top 5 finishes to his name, which is the most among all drivers outside of the Top 5 in the standings.

Jones has finished seventh or better in five of his last seven races, so he should be in the mix again this weekend. He’s up and down at Bristol, notching two Top 5’s in his last four starts but also finishing 24th or worse in the other two. Given how he’s driving these days, I see him getting back in the Top 10 here.

Past 5 Winners at Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race

Year Winning Driver
2018 Kurt Busch
2017 Kyle Busch
2016 Kevin Harvick
2015 Joey Logano
2014 Joey Logano

Bet Logano For A Top 10, But Not An Outright Win

Logano has had a strong season with nine Top 5 finishes this year, including a pair of victories. However, he has really hit a wall of late with three straight finishes of 12th or worse. In fact, Logano hasn’t placed better than seventh in any of his last six races.

He’s actually done really well at this track throughout his career with Top 10 finishes in seven of his last eight starts there (the lone miss was a 13th), so if you want to bet him for a Top 10, that would make sense. However, I’ll pass on him winning outright.
