World Wide Technology Raceway is a 1.25-mile oval that demands versatility. The two ends don’t even pretend to be the same: Turns 1 and 2 are tight and pinched, with 11 degrees of banking that mirror New Hampshire. Over on the other side, Turns 3 and 4 open up with a flatter, sweeping radius and just 9 degrees of banking, evoking Phoenix.

Teams will bolt on the Iowa tire compound, but the intermediate engine package means it races much differently than your typical short flat track.

In the history books, Hendrick Motorsports has rarely looked comfortable here, while Penske cars have routinely carried the mail.

• Tyler Reddick: Top-10 Finish (-135, HardRock)

Let’s get this out of the way: shop around. The “Big Boy” shops (DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM) are still asleep at the wheel with nothing but outright markets posted. Classic.

Our model had pegged our favorite tiny ginger, Tyler Reddick, for an 8.4 average finish before cars ever hit the track. Then he ripped off the fifth-best practice session and stuck it seventh in qualifying, bumping his projection to 7.7. Books are still pricing him like he’s a tier below the usual favorites; Blaney, Larson, Bell, Byron, Hamlin…but our math says he belongs in that group.

And here’s why: Reddick’s speed has been drastically improved on the short-flat comps. A few weeks back at Richmond, Reddick qualified second, led 41 laps, and banked 11 fasties…before getting punted from the lead by NASCAR’s resident mosquito, Ty Gibbs.

In Phoenix, he carried an average running position of 6.0 with 19 fast laps before fading late. Even in Iowa’s forgettable outing, the car still showed pace with 4 fasties. And at Gateway last season, he rolled off fifth and came home fourth while clocking 5 fast laps.

Sure, the finishes might read “meh” on paper, but the underlying metrics scream value.
