  • NASCAR’s Iowa Corn 350 takes place in Newton, Iowa on Sunday afternoon.
  • Chase Briscoe ran away with the pole, but could Ryan Blaney or Kyle Larson run away with the race?
  • Below, see my NASCAR Iowa Corn 350 predictions, odds, and expert picks.

Iowa is a rather new track for NASCAR drivers. It is a 0.875-mile oval with some progressive 12-14 degree banking on the turns. Now, for the second time, drivers will race on this track with potential playoff spots on the line.

The question becomes, can Chase Briscoe turn that qualifying and practice speed into a win? Briscoe has won a few poles this year in the 19 car formerly occupied by Martin Truex Jr. Late-run and final stage questions linger after the back-to-back runner-up results at Sonoma and Dover.

The table below maps out the NASCAR Iowa Corn 350 odds (winner, top three, and top five) for the favorites and several racers who might contend. Further down in the article, I set out my predictions and picks for Iowa.

NASCAR Iowa Corn 350 Betting Odds

Ryan Blaney+500+150-125

Joey Logano+1800+500+250
Carson Hocevar+2200+650+325
Tyler Reddick+2500+600+300

At +450 odds, the implied probability for Kyle Larson to win the race is 18.18%. Ryan Blaney (last year’s winner) is at +500. William Byron is again lurking at +600 with Christopher Bell and Chase Briscoe not too far behind.

Kyle Larson leads the field in the NASCAR Cup Series odds. Christopher Bell, William Byron, and Denny Hamlin are favorites to also reach the Championship Four.

NASCAR Iowa Corn 350 Predictions

The weather will be excellent on Sunday. The forecast calls for pleasant temperatures around 75-80 degrees and a good deal of sunshine. Rain is not on the docket basically.

Like I mentioned above, do drivers like Kyle Larson and Ryan Blaney dominate again? Their cars seem tailor-made for this track. Remember, the only reason Larson did not win last year’s race was a wreck in Stage 3.

Again, the thought process gets challenging here. It is difficult sometimes to gauge things off two practice and qualifying sessions plus one race. However, we try to anyway. There is little doubt how fast drivers like the No. 5 and 24 are.

Now, the battles here are intriguing. Also, keep in mind, the grip strips may not have quite the effect they did last year. The Iowa course had a chance to age for a year. Add in cooler temperatures and wear/fuel management could make for an unpredictable race. Drivers like William Byron and Chase Elliott could be more in play from a betting standpoint. Byron’s average speed last year was 2.75 and he qualified just ahead of Kyle Larson for Sunday.

More NASCAR Picks For Iowa

With the In-Season Tournament out of the way, the playoff chase can take center stage again. Currently, 13 drivers have at least one win. It remains possible to see all 16 playoff spots determined by unique winners.

Stage Winner Wins Race

OUTCOMEODDS
Stage 1 winner wins race+120
Stage 1+2 winner wins +450
Stage 2 winner triumphs+130

Again, wear and sudden lack of grip can be cruel. It seems talking to ARCA, Xfinity, and other drivers indicate decreasing grip and increased tire wear as races go on. Sunday should be no different. Track temperatures will still be just warm enough to create a little more chaos. It is more likely that the Stage 1 winner ultimately wins the race at +120. This goes with my prediction for Sunday that William Byron can steal a victory here.

Now, if one is wondering about other possibilities. Watch for Chris Buescher. He is at +3000 and at +400 for a Top 5. Expect the 17 car to make up positions early from his qualifying spot (27th). Some other drivers to watch out for include Josh Berry (starts 12th) and Carson Hocevar (starts seventh).

William Byron snagging the checkered flag late is our pick with Ryan Blaney and Kyle Larson leading quite a few laps.
