Truex Jr. to Triumph

Truex is coming off a 22nd place finish last week. Normally, that might be a turn off, but in each of the last four times that Truex has finished outside of the top 10, he has bounced back with a third place or better finish the following week every single time.

The fact he is a two-time defending champion at this race makes him a little more enticing. Truex does well at intermediate tracks as he has nine wins on them and has the best average finish (5.7) among active drivers on these tracks. I’m looking for a big rebound this week.

Elliott for a Top 10

Elliott was on fire at one point in the season, finishing in the top 5 in five of six races from April 28th to June 2nd. Since then, he’s struggled, placing 20th, 37th, 11th, and 35th. Last week was a crash-filled race that cost him that ugly finish but I’m expecting him to be in contention for a top 10 this week.

Since the start of 2017, Elliott has an average finish position of 11.5 on intermediate tracks. That’s the seventh-best score in that time frame. He’s also picked up a win. Over the last two races here, he has finished third and 13th, so I’m taking a flier with him for a top 10 prop.

Bowman a Good Bet?

Fresh off his first career victory in the Camping World 400 two weeks ago, Bowman will be motivated to close the gap on the top five drivers in the standings with another strong performance this week.

Bowman has recorded top 10 finishes at Kansas, Charlotte, and Chicagoland this season.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver has recorded top 10 finishes at Kansas, Charlotte, and Chicagoland this season, so we are banking on him delivering another quality start at another 1.5-mile track this week.

He’s flown under the radar most of the season, finishing eighth or better in every race from April 28th until May 26th (six races). He fell back to 21st last week after his first win of the season, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back in the top 10 here.

Pass on Harvick to Win Outright

There has been a lot of talk about Harvick’s potential after recording top 10 finishes in each of his last six starts in this race. However, Harvick has yet to win a race this season despite recording three poles and five top 5 finishes.

The fact that Harvick has been in contention time and again will serve as an indicator for some to bet on him to finally win this week. However, until he takes a checkered flag it’s probably better off to stay away from him altogether. Maybe a top 10 prop but I’m avoiding him for outright bets.
