Royal Baby #2 – Odds and Predictions
In case you missed it, on March 27th, Pippa Middleton’s older sister – I mean Princess Kate – held her final public appearance before beginning a royal nesting process that will (hopefully) culminate in the successful birth of her second child in April.
Naturally, the world awaits the successor to Prince Harry – i.e. the future second-in-line – with bated breath; however, there’s plenty of speculation that the child isn’t going to be a Harry at all, but a Harriette. Not only was Kate seen wearing a lot of pink lately, but rumor has it the sonogram leaked a few weeks ago. That said, there’s been no confirmation either way.
Still, folks are already taking stock of the rumor, and the odds of the baby being a girl are climbing every day.
This got us thinking about what the future – both immediate and long-term – will hold for William and Kate’s second born. We don’t have any insider information, but that won’t stop us from setting the odds on the littlun’s prospects!
Royal Baby #2 Odds:
Odds on the gender:
- Girl: 1/2
- Boy: 2/1
- Hermaphrodite (chromosomally speaking): 1,000/1
Odds on the baby becoming king/queen: 15/1 (Boy or girl, it’s likely going to suffer the same fate as Harry.)
Odds on the baby’s name: (Alice is the frontrunner at the moment, but you can’t count out William and Kate’s mothers’ names, Elizabeth and Alice. We think there’s also a slim chance they get creative.)
- Alice: 3/1
- Elizabeth: 4/1
- James: 7/1
- Carole: 10/1
- Charlotte: 12/1
- Victoria: 13/1
- Arthur: 22/1
- Diana: 25/1
- Margaret: 30/1
- Harry: 50/1
- Fergie (not the one you’re thinking of; this one): 500/1
- Will.i.Am (the one you’re thinking of): 5,000/1
- Dorcas: 5,000/1
- Princess: 5,000/1
- Lady: 10,000/1
- Tramp: 100,000/1
- Trump: 1,000,000/1
Odds on the baby’s weight at birth: (The average baby is about 7 lb 8 oz. George was a bit plump at 8 lb 6 oz, and boys tend to be heavier than girls. Look for little Fergie to be a bit smaller.)
- 6 lb 0-8 oz: 12/1
- 6 lb 9-15 oz: 8/1
- 7 lb 0-8 oz: 11/2
- 7 lb 9-15 oz: 3/1
- 8 lb 0-8 oz: 3/1
- 8 lb 9-15 oz: 10/1
- 9 lb 0-8 oz: 18/1
Odds on what occupation the baby will have as an adult:
- Unemployed/Independently Wealthy: 1/4 (I suppose that latter part of that is a given.)
- Diplomat: 5/1
- Librarian: 8/1
- Model/Actor: 12/1
- Soldier: 15/1
- Police Officer: 30/1
- Firefighter: 33/1
- Professional Athlete: 50/1
- Infomercial Pitchman: 500/1
- Rocket Scientist: 500/1
- Cult Leader: 1,000/1 (Actually, what counts as a cult? Does Great Britain count?)
