The Los Angeles Kings keep rolling as they have won five playoffs games in a row, including game one against the San Jose Sharks. Game two of the series is Thursday at 10 PM ET at Staples Center.
Game was a 2-0 win by the Kings with scores by Slava Voynov and Mike Richards; however, Jonathan Quick was the star with 35 saves in the match. “We wanted to get off on a good foot, no matter how we had to do it,” Quick said. “We got better during this game, but we’ve got some work to do.”
“We didn’t have our best first period, and it could have gotten out of reach quickly if Quickie wasn’t back there making some big saves,” said Richards. “You could just tell he was seeing the puck well.”
The Sharks tried to be in the game; they outshoot the Kings 16-4 in the third period, alone, but failed to deliver.
“It’s about getting it done,” Sharks coach Todd McLellan said. “When the night ends, you have to have the job done. You can have as many good looks as you want. You can be in all alone. You have to find ways to finish, and we have players that are very capable of doing that. We have players that are capable of scoring greasy, dirty, playoff-style goals.”
Los Angeles have won three of the last four games against San Jose, including game one; they are favorite to win game two in the moneyline -143, and San Jose is listed +130 to upset the Kings.
