Bayern Munich (+110) vs Real Madrid (+225), Draw (+260)

The International Champions Cup continues this Wednesday, at MetLife Stadium, in New Jersey, when two of Europe’s top clubs clash, as Real Madrid takes on Bayern Munich (7:30 PM Eastern).

Bayern Munich currently sits second in the U.S. side of the International Champions Cup, having played the two teams from Milan, thus far. The Bavarians played to a draw against AC Milan (3-3), but went on to lose in penalty kicks to the Rossoneri. However, the Bundesliga champions bounced back strong, and punished Inter Milan for standing in their way with a 4-1 victory.

Bayern is still trying to adapt to the new style of coach Carlo Ancelotti, who took over for Pep Guardiola this summer, after his move to Manchester City. In the short time under Ancelotti’s tutelage, the German squad has looked great offensively, scoring seven goals in two games, but their defense has been rather shaky.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, has been forced into using a younger roster than they’d prefer. Cristiano Ronaldo is not available for the team due to injury, and several other players are resting after playing the Euro 2016. Without many of their top players, they fell to Paris Saint-Germain (3-1) in their first game of the tournament; but, they too put forth a better performance in their second match against Chelsea, winning the match 3-2. It’s safe to say the team you’re seeing in the ICC is not the same squad they’ll open La Liga play with.

Unlike Ancelotti with Bayern Munich, coach Zinedine Zidane spent last season with Madrid, and his team knows exactly what their French coach expects and demands of them.

From what we’ve seen to this point, the younger squad plays with a lot of enthusiasm, but, as expected, they commit plenty of tactical mistakes. Against a team like Bayern Munich, that is a recipe for disaster.

These two teams met in a friendly game in 2015 in the Audi Cup, and Bayern Munich won the match 1-0. This shouldn’t carry much weight though, as a lot has changed from both sides, especially in the playing styles of the two. However, the older, more experienced roster should prevail in this meeting.

Pick: Bayern Munich (+110).
