USA (+650) vs. Germany (-220), Draw (+400)

Team USA surprised the soccer world by beating the Netherlands in a friendly in Amsterdam last week (4-3). The Americans will now look to turn that one-game wonder into a streak for the ages when they face World Champion Germany tomorrow in Cologne (2:45 PM Eastern).

Team USA trailed the Netherlands by two with 20 minutes left but scored three unanswered to send the home crowd home despondent. The Americans showed a level of composure and aggressiveness not often seen among CONCACAF teams.

For US manager Jurgen Klinsmann, a native German, the win over the Dutch squad was special, but trumping his home country would be even better.

“As a German, beating Holland is always a special thing to do! Looking from our American perspective now, this game against Germany is a fascinating opportunity. If you were a player and you get a chance to play against Germany, against the world champions, against all of those names that had the World Cup trophy a year ago in their hands, it’s just wonderful. We will tell the players to just rise to the occasion”, Klinsmann said to USsoccer.com.

The win was the second in a row for the US in friendlies; the topped Mexico 2-0 back in mid-April. Germany, on the other hand, only managed a disappointing draw with Australia (2-2) in its last outing. The score was reflective of Germany’s struggles to incorporate some new faces into the lineup heading into Euro 2016. The draw moved Germany’s record to just 1-1-1 in friendlies since the 2014 World Cup.

Tomorrow’s match will be a repeat of a group stage tilt at the 2014 World Cup, which the Germans took 1-0. I don’t see the Americans surprising Germany like they did with the Netherlands, but there’s value on betting the handicap, where the US +1 is currently sitting at +200.

Pick: USA +1 (+200).
