RB Leipzig vs Borussia Mönchengladbach Prediction

Leipzig’s progress in the Bundesliga has been excellent and they are pushing the perennial champions Bayern all the way this season. They come into Bundealiga Matchday 23 off the back of last weekend’s emphatic 3-0 win over Hertha Berlin and have had a free week to prepare for the visit of Mönchengladbach. This extra freshness may well be key to the outcome.

By contrast, Borussia suffered a bruising 2-0 home defeat by Manchester City in the Champions League, which followed on from a disappointing 2-1 defeat by relegation-threatened Mainz last weekend; a result that left them in eighth place – three points adrift of the European places. For Leipzig, Emil Forsberg, Konrad Laimer, and Dominik Szoboszlai all look likely to miss this one through injury, while for Mönchengladbach, Mamadou Di Doucoure is still out but Marcus Thuram should be fit.

The midweek defeat for Borussia will have drained them both mentally and physically, so it will take a monumental effort for them to go to Leipzig and get anything from the game. Even with the home team at odds-on for the win, that, for me, is still where the value lies. Maybe also consider the over 3.5 goals at +175.

Pick: Leipzig to win (-157) / over 3.5 goals (+175)

Werder Bremen vs Eintracht Frankfurt Prediction

Werder’s disastrous 4-0 home defeat by Hoffenheim last weekend saw them drop to 12th in the Bundesliga and they are now only five points clear of the relegation zone. Defeat by high-flying Eintracht on Bundesliga Matchday 23 would leave them in a precarious position as the season enters its final straight, and with goals proving problematic – they have scored just 24 goals in their 21 games – wins are proving very hard to come by.

Eintracht Frankfurt, by comparison, has been in outstanding form of late with nine wins and a draw in their last ten games. They are even ahead of Bayern in the form table – that is how good they have been – and are up to fourth in the table and in prime position to earn a Champions League place. At the weekend, they even managed to beat Bayern 2-1 at home; inflicting on the Bavarians only their third defeat of the season.

It is hard to see past an away win given Eintracht’s outstanding form, especially with Werder having a major wobble, and so the value here is in trying to predict the scoreline. For me, the +800 on offer for 0-2 is well worth a look.

Pick: Eintracht to win 2-0 (+800)

VfL Wolfsburg vs Hertha Berlin Prediction

Wolfsburg is in the heady heights of third place and is having a brilliant season. Like Eintracht, they too have the smell of Champions League soccer in their nostrils and look well on course for a top-four finish, especially after an emphatic 3-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld last weekend; a match they dominated from minute one.

Hertha, on the other hand, is hovering just above the drop zone going into Bundesliga Matchday 23, albeit only on goal difference, after a terrible run of form that has seen them win just once in their last ten. A 3-0 home thumping by RB Leipzig last weekend was the latest defeat in a miserable run that has seen them slide alarmingly down the table.

The Wolves are odds-on for the home win – as you would expect of a team that has won six of their last seven – and with Hertha struggling, the -143 for the home win looks easy money. Also worth considering is over 3.5 goals in the game at +195.

Pick: Wolfsburg to win (-143)
