  • On November 7th, Copenhagen host Group B rivals Dynamo Kyiv in the Europa League
  • After three matches, the two teams are tied on points and goal differential at the top of the group
  • The hosts are favored in the group stage clash at +134

Europa League play is back underway this week, and Group B kicks off on Thursday, looking to provide some flipping and flopping of teams at the top of the group. Currently, Copenhagen and Dynamo Kyiv sit at the top, however, Malmo are stalking their counterparts only one point behind the two leaders.

Malmo will be playing last place Lugano this match week, which makes the fixture at hand even more important. If Malmo claims the three points as expected, they will claim the top spot in the group, meaning a positive result is vital for Copenhagen and Dynamo Kyiv if they want to advance to the knockout stages of the competition.

Odds taken Nov. 6

The two sides do not have much history between each other, having played one another for the first time ever on the third matchday. That game finished at 1-1 at the Valeriy Lobanovski Dynamo Stadium, but Kyiv will be looking to better their Danish opponents. Historically, Kyiv has won 60% of their matches against teams from Denmark, which one would think would favor them. However, Copenhagen can top that feat, having won all five of their games against Ukranian opposition.

Both Teams Flying in Domestic Competition

While the two sides are fighting for position in the Europa League, they are both cruising in second place in their respective leagues. Copenhagen are on good form, winning four out of their last six in all competitions by a combined score of 14-7. Meanwhile, Dynamo Kyiv has been able to win three out of five, only conceding one goal in the process.

Both teams have come off of blistering results, as Copenhagen beat Soenderjyske 3-0, and Kyiv dismantled FC Lviv 4-0. They will be looking to replicate that success on Thursday night, but the two teams are deadlocked ever so tightly.

Best Bet

After analyzing the contest in Denmark, it still is a very tough game to call either way. Both teams are flying domestically, and have had exactly similar results in European contests. Given the great away record of Dynamo Kyiv, sitting at 6-1-1 this season, the best bet is to go with the underdog.

Oleksiy Mykhaylychenko’s men have been getting off a mind-boggling 16 shots per game, and it is hard to think that if they do that again on Thursday, they will not come out with a victory. Despite the Ukranian’s being the underdogs, the margins are still very close, making it a very smart bet. Given that the two sides already drew and felt each other out a bit in the reverse fixture, expect the pendulum to swing here.

Pick: Dynamo Kyiv (+176)
