Next week, the Champions League group stages are wrapping up and while Man City have already clinched a spot in the knockout rounds, the second spot in Group C is still up for grabs. Each of the three teams can take second place with a win and a little help from their counterparts in the other match.

Odds taken on Dec. 5

This match could be particularly interesting as both teams are coming across stretches of poor form. A usually dominant Manchester side has struggled recently; winning only two games from their last six. In that bag of poor results, comes a devastating loss to Premier League rivals, Liverpool, and draws against Atalanta, Shakhtar, and Newcastle.

Dinamo Zagreb to Rely on Goalscoring Orsic

Despite having the easiest group in the tournament, Pep Guardiola’s side have struggled to be at their best in European play. This could give Dinamo the chance they need to slide into the knockout rounds. However, similarly to the Citizens, the Croatians have not been on their best of form. Nenad Bjelica’s side has won three out of six, with two draws and a loss. Their past two matches in the Champions League featured a 3-3 draw against Shakhtar and a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Atalanta.

If Dinamo can manage to strike at home, expect Mirslav Orsic to be the one bagging the goal as he has netted four times in only five European matches. In the reverse fixture, Manchester won narrowly at home by a score of 2-0; the goals coming from youngster Phil Foden and star forward Raheem Sterling. The former Liverpool player has five goals in just as many matches in the Champions League, which leads one to believe he will net at least one more time against Dinamo.

Best Bet

The best bet for this match, is to put your money on a draw at +255. The odds are risky but logically it makes sense given the situation for both teams. City has already won the group, therefore, they can rest their best players to keep their legs fresh for the Premier League. Even with their “B” team in, Guardiola can put out a side more talented than most other teams in the world.

With that being said, they are known for a slip-up especially as of late; as their defense has been quite shaky, and in European play, the goals are not coming as freely as usual. If Dinamo come out with a good game plan and do not try and take City off the park, then they have a brilliant shot at a draw. Will they get a win and see themselves into the next round? Most definitely not, but there will still be hope, and you better believe that the Croatians will be going for it every step of the way.

My Pick: Draw (+255)
