Genoa welcome league-leaders Juventus to Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Tuesday, June 30th, kick-off 3:45 PM EST for Matchday 29 in Italy’s Serie A. The home side desperately needs a point at the very least as they sit just a point above the relegation zone after a 2-2 draw against Brescia on the weekend. Meanwhile, Juve took advantage of a 10-men Lecce squad on Friday, burying them 4-0.

In their lone meeting early in the season, Juventus just pulled out three points in a 2-1 victory on home soil over Genoa. The Old Lady managed 23 shots in that match, but just 13 were on target. It was a physical clash as well, with a total of nine cards handed out, including two reds for Genoa and one for Juve.

Can Genoa Remain in Italy’s Top Flight?

Davide Nicola’s side still has ten matches to go but thankfully, just four of them are against teams in the top half of the Serie A table. Results are possible in any given matchday, but with the likes of Sassuolo, Sampdoria, and SPAL ahead on the schedule, Genoa has the chance to secure a handful of points which can most certainly help them steer clear of the bottom three.

Right now, they’re tied with Sampdoria in 17th place with 26 points, just one ahead of Lecce, who are in the final relegation spot. Genoa’s clash with Juve on Tuesday won’t be an easy task by any means but given their last fixture against one another, the home side could grab a point. They’ve put forward impressive performances against some of the league’s top sides this term, beating AC Milan before the pandemic, while losing by just one goal to Lazio and Juventus. They’ve also managed to draw against Napoli and an electric Atalanta squad who bag goals at a ridiculously high rate.

Can Sarri Secure a Title in First Year as Juve Manager?

It’s no secret that Juventus have been a Serie A powerhouse for many years now, winning the title in eight straight seasons. They look well on their way to a ninth Scudetto, but Lazio continues to pose a threat, currently just four points back of Juve. Cristiano Ronaldo and co. took care of Lecce on Friday in convincing fashion, but Lazio answered with a 2-1 win over Fiorentina the following day to remain in title contention.

It’s not going to be an easy road to win it all this season though for Maurizio Sarri in his first year in charge. Juve still plays Lazio, Roma, Atalanta, and AC Milan, all sides who could give the current league leaders a run for their money. It’s going to be crucial that Juventus can secure three points against Genoa and on the weekend against Torino before they face Atalanta and Milan on back to back matchdays.

Best Bet

Given Juve’s form as of late and their two straight victories since football returned in Italy, I believe they’re a safe bet with a victory on Tuesday. However, Genoa has proven they can compete with top teams, so I do think Juve will only win by one goal on the road.

Pick: Juventus -233
