The United States returns to international duty for a clash with Honduras on Thursday, June 3rd, kick-off 7:30 PM EST. Both sides will be fighting for a spot in the final of the CONCACAF Nations League, which is set for Sunday.
The States are coming off a defeat to Switzerland in a friendly on Sunday, while this will be the first game for the Hondurans since late March. The US is unbeaten in their last seven meetings with the Central American side.

Poor Form for Honduras Against US
Honduras is by no means a big name in international football and they’ve had little to no success against the Americans. Fabian Coito’s side has beaten them just five times ever, with their last encounter coming back in 2017. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw.

As for the group stage of the Nations League, it came almost two years ago after the knockout stages were postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Honduras ran through their pod with ease, going 3-1-0 against the likes of Martinique and Trinidad & Tobago, conceding just once.
The Hondurans have hit a poor spell of form though, going winless in their last four matches, which were all friendlies. Greece beat them just over two months ago, while they also drew with Belarus just days prior.

Honduras will be looking for a much-needed victory, but it will not be easy against a US team that is full of quality. They have no injury problems at the moment though and do have good camaraderie considering the majority of their squad play together domestically.
Better Days Ahead for the US
For many years, the United States has struggled to compete on the international stage. However, this current generation could be their best yet. Gregg Berhalter’s side will have both Zack Steffen and Christian Pulisic back in the squad for Thursday’s encounter after the pair were battling it out in the Champions League final for Manchester City and Chelsea.

The US is in solid form heading into this Honduras clash, losing just once in their last nine games. A defeat to the Swiss last weekend wasn’t ideal, but they did win five straight fixtures before the loss.
The Americans also finish atop their group in the fall of 2019, just edging out Canada on goal difference. Berhalter has all the weapons he could want right now, from Dortmund phenom Gio Reyna to Barcelona standout Sergino Dest.
In this competition, Weston McKennie, Josh Sargent, and Jordan Morris all lead the side with three goals apiece. McKennie, who plies his trade for Juventus, bagged the quickest hat-trick in USMNT history on October 11th of 2019 against Cuba, taking just 13 minutes to complete the feat in the nation’s capital.
RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams is the only notable absence right now for the US as he’s dealing with back issues, while Morris is recovering from an ACL.

Honduras vs USA Prediction
It’s basically a foregone conclusion the USA will secure a victory here and book their ticket to the final. But, the Moneyline doesn’t offer a whole lot of value. I expect them to put forward a very convincing showing and win by two goals. Honduras is no competition for the talent the USA has on their team.
