  • Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League Group F match at Milan between Inter and Borussia Dortmund is listed as a pick by sportsbooks
  • Inter Milan have one point from two matches in the group stage
  • Dortmund and Barcelona are both already on four points

Is it too early to call Inter Milan’s home match with Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday a must-win for the Italian side?

It’s just the third match of six in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, and yet, if they don’t take at least half the points from this match, it may be strike three for Inter.

Inter Milan is the slight favorite to win Wedensday’s match at +143.

Inter Milan’s First Losing Streak

Heading into Sunday’s Serie A match against Sassuolo, Inter will be looking to halt a two-match losing skid.

Last Sunday, they fell 2-1 at Juventus in the battle for top spot in Serie A. It was the first loss of the league season for Inter Milan, now 6-1-0.

Prior to that on October 2nd, Inter was defeated 2-1 at Barcelona in their second UCL group stage match, despite grabbing the lead in the third minute. Inter was held to 1-1 draw at home by Slavia Praha in the opening of UCL group stage play.

To add to their recent woes, forward Alexis Sanchez, on loan to Inter Milan from Manchester United, dislocated his ankle and suffered tendon damage playing for Chile in a weekend international against Colombia.

They are awaiting test results to see if Sanchez will require surgery.

Dortmund Fit to Be Tied

Borussia Dortmund open their UCL Group Stage campaign battling to a scoreless draw at home against Barcelona. Tying one on has proven to be the Dortmund way of late.

The Germans have halved the points in four of their last five matches. The only time they’ve gotten away from the drawing board was a 2-0 UCL goup stage verdict at Slavia Praha.

All those ties leave Dortmund at 3-3-1 and eighth in the Bundelisga table.

It’s Even Steven

Both of these teams have faced the same two sides and Dortmund came up with the better result each time in the head-to-head breakdown. The Germans held Barcelona to a draw while the Italians lost to the Spaniards. Dortmund defeated Slavia Praha on the road. Inter Milan drew with the Czechs at home.

Adding further intrigue to this showdown are rumors that Inter Milan might be making a move to try and acquire Borussia Dortmund and Germany midfielder Mario Gotze.

Based on Dortmund’s recent run of form, and Inter Milan’s desperate need not to lose another match, the draw looks to be a solid play here.

Pick: Draw (+220)
