While last week’s ‘Atletico to win to Nil’ prediction did not hit, Simeone’s side nonetheless picked up an eighth-straight win in La Liga play with a 4-2 win over Cadiz — and padded another three points onto its lead following Real Madrid’s shock 2-1 home defeat to Levante Vigo’s visit on La Liga Matchday 22 should equate to three more points for the league leaders, who are tipped at a surprisingly short -159 against a Celta team that is winless in six matches.

Real Madrid will expect nothing short of all three points on Saturday (10:15 am) at last-place Huesca, though the hosts’ recent resurgence (four points from two matches) and Real’s current patchy form do offer a hint of upset potential.

With Barcelona embroiled in financial problems off the pitch, the club’s results have continued to roll in; Ronald Koeman’s side has won five straight in all competitions since a Supercopa final defeat to Bilbao but will need to be at its best on Sunday against Real Betis (3:00 pm).

Huesca vs Real Madrid Prediction

While many will quickly sweep past Saturday’s contest between Huesca (2-10-9) and Real Madrid (12-4-4) when scanning the La Liga Matchday 22 schedule, there may be a glimmer of value on the hosts.

Real Madrid has cruised through the three head-to-head meetings since Huesca was first promoted to La Liga in 2018, however Zidane’s crew’s last visit to Huesca in September 2018 resulted in a narrow 1-0 win for Los Blancos.

Huesca has been better in recent weeks, with a 3-1 win at Valladolid and a 0-0 draw at home against Villarreal lifting Pacheta’s squad within a win of exiting the relegation zone for the first time since Matchday 5.

Madrid has been patchy lately, with just one win in five across all competitions including a humbling 2-1 defeat to third-division Alcoyano in the Copa del Rey; many are questioning Zidane’s future, and Atleti’s 10-point lead seems insurmountable right now.

Can Huesca stay hot, and will Real continue to slide? It’s worth the value play based on recent form alone.

Pick: Huesca or Draw (+185)

Real Betis vs Barcelona Prediction

Real Betis (9-3-9) is a rejuvenated group ahead of a visit from Barcelona (12-4-4) on Sunday in La Liga Matchday 22.

Manuel Pellegrini’s squad has won three of four in league play, emerging from the bottom half of the table in the process, and has put together a tidy Copa del Rey run.

Barça is rolling with five wins on the trot, a berth in the Copa del Rey semifinal and a looming Champions League quarterfinal against PSG on the horizon.

The head-to-head picture is not pretty for Sunday’s hosts: The Blaugrana have won three straight and five of the last six meetings between the two, but this is a Betis team in significantly better defensive shape than it was back on November 7’s 5-2 defeat at the Camp Nou.

Pellegrini’s men should be capable of keeping Barcelona within striking distance, and +1 protection makes near-even money an adventure worth taking on La Liga Matchday 22.

Pick: Real Betis +1 (-113)

Atletico Madrid vs Celta Vigo Prediction

The march to a La Liga crown seems inevitable for Atleti (16-2-1), which wraps up MD 22’s slate of games on Monday against sliding Celta Vigo (6-7-8).

The Colchoneros have a strong 14-5-4 advantage in head-to-head meetings since 2007, but the last five contests have been a more even 2-2-1 in slight favor of Atleti.

After an initial surge following the appointment of Eduardo Coudet in the dugout, Celta’s attack has dried up — getting clean-sheeted in three of a winless five-game stretch.

Six of Atleti’s 10 home matches have resulted in shutout wins; Vigo has been blanked regularly in league play over the past month and we’re backing that to be the case in La Liga Matchday 22 as well.

Pick: Atletico to Win to Nil (+160)
