Sporting KC Eye Top of the Table
Sporting KC will be looking to avoid suffering consecutive defeats for the first time this season when they hit the pitch for Wednesday night’s contest. SKC stumbled out of the gate this season, earning just two wins through their first five contests, but have steadily gained momentum since. The club has steadily climbed the standings during their current 7-2-2 win-draw-loss run, and have been particularly successful on the road of late, going 3-0-1 over their past four, with each of their three wins over that stretch coming by multi-goal margins.

Sporting are currently the highest-scoring team in the Western Conference, with 29 total markers through 16 contests. Forward Daniel Salloi has led the attack. The 25-year-old Hungarian striker has flashed the form that powered him to 14 goals during the 2018 MLS campaign, potting a team-best nine goals through 16 appearances, including five goals over his past six outings.

Salloi picked up a yellow card in the club’s loss to Dallas, but that is not expected to slow him down. He earned a yellow card in a recent 2-0 win over the LA Galaxy but followed that up by scoring in each of his next two outings, and sports intriguing +225 odds to find the back of the net at some point on Wednesday night.

Can LAFC Halt Current Slide?
LAFC enter Wednesday’s contest as heavy favorites, but have plenty of work to do to overcome their recent shaky form. The club earned just two total points through the first two dates of their current homestand, capped by last week’s 2-2 draw with the suddenly surging Minnesota United. Indeed, the defense has emerged as a concern for the Black and Gold, who have surrendered two goals in each of their three recent contests. Injuries also remain a concern for LAFC, who will be without center backs Jesus Murillo and Eddie Segura on Wednesday night.

Fortunately for Los Angeles, their offense has also lived up to their billing. The club has scored multiple goals in four of their past five outings, as well as each of their past four home dates. That adds value to the lengthy +115 odds of the total going OVER 3.5 in Wednesday night’s matchup. However, it has not been Carlos Vela that has carried the goalscoring load for LAFC.
The former MLS MVP was slow to regain his touch after being limited to just eight appearances last season, scoring just five times through 13 outings this season. However, four of those goals have come during the club’s 1-2-1 run, making Vela worthy of consideration as a +320 bet to open the scoring on Wednesday night.
The Picks: Draw (+320); OVER 2.5 (-190)
