They have 19 points and are ahead of second-placed Cruz Azul on goal difference.

The Apertura section of the nation’s two-part 2020/21 Liga MX season has been re-named the Guardianes in honor of the efforts of Mexico’s health workers during the Vovic-19 crisis.

Pick 1: Atlas vs Mazatlan

Club Atlas and Mazatlan have both won only two games each and meet in a battle of the strugglers on Saturday.

Atlas are in better form after only one defeat in five matches while recently-formed Mazatlan ended a run of five games without a win when they surprisingly defeated Tijuana 1-0 on Thursday.

It makes the offer for a draw at +240 look promising as both teams have discovered some kind of optimism lately.

Atlas are in 15th place and favorites for a win at +110 which is also intriguing in their current mood –  with 16th-placed Mazatlan at +235.

The game kicks off at Atlas’s Estadio Jalisco at 7:00 pm ET.

Atlas were narrowly denied a win when they drew 1-1 at Monterrey.

Mazatlan’s home win against Tijuana came courtesy of an eighth-minute strike from 19-year-old Mexican forward Cesar Valera – his fourth goal of the campaign.

Atlas were narrowly denied a win in their most recent outing when they drew 1-1 at Monterrey.

Luciano Acosta put Atlas ahead with his fourth strike of the season but they were thwarted by an 84th-minute equalizer.

It was still an encouraging performance following the 1-0 defeat of Cruz Azul – currently in second place – in the previous fixture.

Atlas have won twice and drawn twice in the last five games with the only setback against high-flying Leon by 2-1 on September 1.

Mazatlan had lost three and drawn two before the win against Tijuana.

Pick: Draw +240

Pick 2: Necaxa vs Chivas Guadalajara

Chivas Guadalajara have lost only once since the appointment of new coach Victor Manuel Vuchetic last month and are in seventh place.

They travel on Friday to meet bottom club Necaxa who have lost their last three matches.

Chivas look good value for an away win at +175 even though Vuchetich has been held to two draws since taking charge – as well as recording two wins.

Necaxa are surprisingly priced as favorites for a win at +160 at 9:30 pm ET with the draw at +220.

Necaxa appeared to have picked up form after failing to win in their opening three games.

Chivas’ most recent result was a 1-1 draw at home against Queretaro last mid-week when they squandered a first-half lead delivered by Mexican striker Jose Macias.

Necaxa appeared to have picked up some form after failing to win in their opening three games.

They put together a three-match unbeaten run starting on Matchday 4 when they beat Mazatlan 1-0.

A 1-1- draw against Monterrey followed before an encouraging 2-1 defeat of Santos Laguna.

But they were then wiped out 3-0 at Cruz Azul before a 2-0 home defeat by Leon.

Then, last time out last midweek, they slumped 2-1 at Atletico San Luis despite taking a 21st-minute lead through midfielder Alejandro Zendejas.

There was a 2-1 win for Necaxa when the teams last met in Liga MX in Guadalajara in August last year.

Pick: Chivas Guadalajara +175

Pick 3: Pumas UNAM vs Atletico San Luis

Leaders Pumas UNAM are on a three-game winning streak and must be fancied strongly at home against second-from-bottom club Atletico San Luis on Sunday.

The spread offer for Pumas to win by two goals at 2:00 pm ET looks promising here at an invitIng +235 (Asian Handicap -1.5 +235).

Atletico San Luis had lost four consecutive times before a 2-1 home win against bottom club Necaxa last midweek.

The table-toppers are the league’s second leading scorers with 17 goals while conceding only nine.

The table-toppers are the league’s second-leading scorers with 17 goals while conceding only nine – with leading scorer Carlos Espinosa hitting the net four times.

They have struck nine times during their current impressive run with a 3-0 home win against Tijuana followed by a 4-1 success at their own HQ against Puebla.

Last midweek Pumas were 2-1 winners away at Santos Laguna.

In the abandoned Clausura section of the 2019/20 season last February, Pumas hammered San Luis 4-0.

There was also a 4-0 win for Pumas in the Copa Mexico last October.

Pick Pumas UNAM: Asian Handicap -1.5 +235
