Something has to give when Liverpool and Arsenal meet in England’s Premier League on Monday with both teams defending early season 100 percent records.

Reigning champions Liverpool were in fourth place early on Sunday after two wins against Leeds United and Chelsea.

Arsenal was third after two London derby wins against Fulham and West Ham United. However, Arsenal faces a daunting task to make it three straights wins at 3:00 PM EST with Liverpool undefeated in the league at Anfield since April 2017.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds side made a shaky start to the defense of their title when they won a dramatic opening game by 4-3 against newly-promoted Leeds at Anfield on September 12.

They were much more composed and commanding in the following 2-0 win at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge.

The Reds are priced as wide -215 favorites at DraftKings with Arsenal at +550 among the picks for the Round 3 fixtures. The value offered here, though, is the draw at +360.

An influential second-half appearance at Chelsea  by Liverpool’s new midfield signing Thiago Alcantara suggested he will greatly enhance the team’s creative abilities.

Thiago and Allison Injury Battle

Unfortunately for Thiago, he is battling to beat an injury ahead of the game, alongside Liverpool’s goalkeeper Allison also said to be a fitness doubt.

Clearly, it will be a boost for Arsenal if both men miss such a huge game. Moreover, the champions will also be without midfielder Jordan Henderson.

Against that, Liverpool’s forward line have hit the ground running with Mo Salah scoring a hat-trick in the victory against Leeds and Sadio Mane scoring both goals at Chelsea.

This is the season in which the influence of Arsenal’s Spanish coach Mikel Arteta is expected to become fully imprinted on the club after his arrival mid-way through the last campaign.

After the FA Cup final win against Chelsea in August, there have been impressive new signings with the excellent Willian arriving from Chelsea along with defender Gabriel Magalhaes being captured from Lille for $42 million.

There has also been the news that prolific goal-scorer and captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has signed a new three-year contract after much speculation that he would leave.

Arsenal’s  win against West Ham at the Emirates was tense but an 86th-minute winner from Eddie Nketiah sealed the points.

It has improved an already positive mood and it was reflected in the way the Gunners confidently cruised to a 3-0 win away against promoted Fulham on opening day.

The win against West Ham at the Emirates was more tense but an 86th-minute winner from Eddie Nketiah sealed the points.

Arsenal has suffered on their last three EPL visits to Anfield; losing 3-1, 5-1, and 4-0.

Arteta has been keen to improve his side’s defensive qualities and they have conceded only once in their three matches so far this season.

Rapid-Fire Reds’ Attack

Arsenal’s stability will be tested early and often by a Liverpool side committed to rapid-fire attacks.

Arsenal will be more cautious than they have been on recent visits to Liverpool when they have attempted to play an open and attacking game.

Liverpool may also call upon another new signing with forward Diogo Jota having arrived from Wolves for $68 million.

Alexandre Lacazette has scored in both Arsenal’s EPL wins so far with Aubameyang also opening his account for the campaign in the win against Fulham.

Magalhaes scored in that game to seal an impressive EPL debut.

Liverpool’s iconic forward Salah has a particularly impressive record at home against Arsenal having scored four times in his last three meetings with them at Anfield.

Pick: Draw (+380)
