  • On Sunday, in Ligue 1, Monaco will host league leaders Paris Saint-Germain at 3:00 pm EST
  • Currently, PSG have an eight-point lead at the top of the table, while Monaco sit just four points above the relegation zone at 18
  • In turn, PSG are the clear favorites in the match with a moneyline of -217

It has been another season of dominance in Ligue 1 for Paris Saint-Germain, as they already have a substantive lead after 14 games. Meanwhile, their opponents Monaco, have not had the best of luck in the south of France. Leonardo Jardim’s defense is crumbling, having let up 24 goals in the campaign so far, which will leave Neymar and company licking their lips before Sunday’s game at the Stade Louis II.

Recently, PSG have been on decent form, winning four out of their last six with a draw, and one loss. Thomas Tuchel’s team will be looking to bounce back after a late comeback in Madrid on Tuesday night that saw them steal a point at the Bernabeu.

Despite the positive results, PSG have played some lackluster teams including the likes of Club Brugge, Dijon, and Brest and have only won those games by a goal a piece.

History falls in favor of PSG

If there was any time for Monaco to take advantage of a sleeping giant, now would be the perfect time. Especially, since Ben Yedder and company are slipping closer and closer to the bottom of the table in France.

For Monaco, they have been building steam as well winning four out of their last six with two losses against Saint-Etienne and Bordeaux. Despite this, they have had similar results to PSG when playing Dijon and Marseille recently. Marseille are currently in second place; so it begs the question, can they actually get a result here?

The logical answer is; probably not. The last four times these sides have played each other, PSG has won each time by a combined score of 14-1. To put that into statistical form, that is 3.75 goals a game for both sides combined. There are goalscorers on both sides, so do not expect this match to be a quiet one.

Best Bet

The best bet for this match is to place your money on the over at 3 1/2. As previous results have shown, these two teams play in some high scoring fixtures against each other. Even a struggling Monaco, with Ben Yedder and Slimani can score a goal or two; proven by the fact they have only been shutout once in six matches.

On the flip side, Paris Saint-Germain are always going to score goals. Even though they have won a majority of their recent matches, they have not fully opened up since they beat Marseilles 4-0 in October. They are due for a  goal-scoring fest, and with four days rest after coming back from Madrid, they will have the energy and legs to do so. Also, at (-101) the best has great value, and holds the greatest chance for the highest return.

My Pick: Over 3 1/2 (-101)
