Serie A Pick1: Lecce vs SPAL

Lecce have opened up a gap above the relegation zone in Italy’s Serie A in recent weeks and can make further progress with a home win against bottom team SPAL on Saturday.

In 17th place, Lecce are now three points clear of 18th-placed Genoa following wins in the last two fixtures against Torino and Napoli.

Those victories ended a run of seven matches without a win and now Lecce looks good value for three points against SPAL with odds at an attractive +120 on February 15, at Stadio Via Del Mare, Lecce at 9:00 am EST.

SPAL have suffered three straight defeats in their most recent fixtures and are priced at +215 with the draw at +235, which is also attractive.

Many of SPAL’s problems stem from the fact they have the second worst away record in the competition

They have won only four times this season with three draws and 16 defeats.

Many of SPAL’s problems stem from the fact they have the second-worst away record in the competition with two wins, one draw and nine defeats on the road.

However, Lecce have been better on their travels. Their home record reads one win, five draws and five defeats.

Yet they look ripe to improve on that after a recent surge in form sparked by a stunning 4-0 win on their own patch against Torino on February 2.

They followed that last weekend with a 3-2 triumph at Napoli.

SPAL lost 3-1 at home against Bologna on January 25. That was followed by a 5-1 thrashing at Lazio and a 2-1 defeat at home by Sassuolo last weekend.

Pick: Lecce +120

Serie A Pick 2: Udinese vs Hellas Verona

Verona are fresh from a shock 2-1 defeat of Juventus last weekend and also looks good value for an away win on Sunday against lowly Udinese.

Sixth-placed Verona are enjoying a seven-match unbeaten run while 15th-placed Udinese have not won in four matches.

Verona is offered at an attractive +180 to win although Udinese are unlikely favorites at +157. The draw is a decent +210 on February 16, at Dacia Arena, Udine, at 6:30 am EST.

Before their defeat of Juventus – then Serie A leaders – Verona had shown their fine form with a 1-1 draw away at Milan followed by a 0-0 draw away against title contenders Lazio in Rome.

Udinese earned a 1-1 draw away against Brescia last weekend but had previously suffered three  successive defeats

They have won nine times this season while drawing seven and losing seven.

Udinese earned a 1-1 draw away against Brescia last weekend but had previously suffered three successive defeats; 3-2 at Milan, 2-0 at Parma and 2-0 at home against Inter Milan.

They have won seven games while losing 12 and drawing four.

Five of those victories have come at home while Verona have won only three away games.

However, Verona’s current mood and their hopes of qualifying for the Europa League put them in a good position for a further away triumph this weekend.

Pick:  Hellas Verona + 180

Serie A Pick 3: Bologna vs Genoa

Bologna have scored eight times in their current run of three straight wins and look attractive to win by more than one goal against relegation-haunted Genoa on Saturday

Bologna’s current impressive run began with a 3-1 away win at SPAL on January 25

Bologna is the -112 favorite to win the game with Genoa at +295 and the draw at +250 on February 15, at Stadio Renato Dall Ara, Bologna, at 12:00 pm EST.

Bologna are in seventh place with nine wins, seven draws and eight defeat this season.

YouTube video

Their current impressive run began with a 3-1 away win at SPAL on January 25 followed by a 2-1 win at home against Brescia on February 1.

That was followed last weekend by a 3-2 away triumph at Roma in the capital.

They have the 11th best home record in the competition after four wins, four draws and three defeats.

However, Genoa have the worst away record in the league.

They have yet to win on the road while losing six times and drawing six times – conceding 28 away goals along the way.

Pick: Bologna -½, -1  +111
