Over/Under & Spread

The over/under 2.5 goals are set at -115 odds here both ways. Goals aren’t so common in this matchup though, with the under being hit in six straight meetings.

Spain vs Switzerland Prediction

La Roja currently sits a point above Portugal in this group and are on the brink of making the Nations League Finals once again. Luis Enrique’s side heads into this encounter in great form, currently enjoying an unbeaten run of eight games. They’ve only dropped four points in this competition and haven’t lost on home soil since 2018.

The victory over the Czechs saw Carlos Soler and Sarabia produced the goods, putting them in a prime position to progress. Although the Nations League is important, these matches serve as a valuable tune-up for the World Cup in Qatar, where Spain has landed in a group alongside Japan, Germany, and Costa Rica.

After a heroic run all the way to the Euro 2020 quarterfinals where they actually lost to Spain in penalties, Switzerland’s form has certainly taken a dip in the Nations League ahead of Qatar, where the squad is in Group G with Brazil, Serbia, and Cameroon. Murat Yakin’s men were winless in this competition until a surprising 1-0 win over Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal on matchday four.

Haris Seferovic’s goal in the first minute was enough for the Swiss to grab their first three points. Unfortunately, Yakin’s team has scored just two times, which doesn’t bode well against a very strong Spain backline.

Spain vs Switzerland Projected Lineups and Injuries

Spain Projected Lineup:  Simon; Carvajal, Garcia, Torres, Alba; Gavi, Busquets, Koke; Sarabia, Morata, Torres

Injuries & Absences: De Gea, Ramos, Laporte, Oyarzabal, Fati, Thiago

Switzerland Projected Lineup: Sommer; Widmer, Akanji, Elvedi, Rodriguez; Freuler, Xhaka, Sow; Shaqiri, Seferovic, Embolo

Injuries & AbsencesOkafor

Spain will be without a few key players such as Aymeric Laporte, David De Gea, Ansu Fati, and Mikel Oyarzabal. Unai Simon will get the call in between the sticks in place of De Gea.

As for the Swiss, their one absence is a notable one. Red Bull Salzburg striker Noah Okafor is unavailable due to dental problems.

Spain vs Switzerland Pick

Even with numerous players missing, Spain is still too strong for the Swiss. They always turn up in front of the home supporters and I don’t see that changing on Saturday. With the moneyline offering minimal value, I’m liking the hosts to win and keep a clean sheet because Switzerland is struggling to find the back of the net.

Pick: Spain to win nil (+150).
