2021 ATP Cup Odds: Predictions to Win Outright & Each Group

The second edition of the ATP Cup gets underway next week and Novak Djokovic and Serbia look to defend their title. This year, Russia is the favorite to win it all, but Serbia’s not that far behind them in the odds leading up to the start of the tournament.
There’s no shortage of talent participating in this tournament, with the world’s top four players taking the court on the first day. Keep an eye out for Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem and Daniil Medvedev to begin their 2021 season on Day 1 of the ATP Cup.

Denis Shapovalov and Novak Djokovic will have a rematch of one of the best matches from the event last year. This will be a must watch match of the tournament, and will be a good indication of how both of teams will play out in this tournament.
Canada looks to make a deep push at the tournament this year not only with Shapovalov, but with Raonic who recently rose in the ATP rankings in 2020. These two give Canada two top 20 singles players participating. Raonic, a player that has shown inconsistencies in past years did have a strong end to 2020. It’ll be interesting to see how Raonic plays. His strong serve is and always has been a huge strength of his, and will most likely give him an edge against his opponents.
Yes, Canada might give Serbia some trouble, but with Novak Djokovic, as well as being the reigning champs, it seems like the best bet of who’s going to win Group A is Serbia. Just keep an eye out for any updates around Djokovic, he’s recently dealt with some blisters on his right hand. Without him, it’s a completely different tournament for Serbia.

Rafael Nadal looks to lead Spain not only to the ATP Cup finals again this year, but to hoist the trophy up at the end of it all as well. Spain has three top 20 players out of the four competing for the country, and looks to have a strong group round. Nadal’s matches are sure to headline the tournament, as he has a rematch of last year against Alex de Minaur, and will also see Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Australia are home favorites. I believe there will be able to be some sort of a crowd during this tournament, so that’s will definitely be an added factor for the Australians competing. But neither Australia or Greece show anything that seems it would come in the way of Spain moving on to the semifinals.

Dominic Thiem looks to help Austria not only make it out of Group C, but deeper in the tournament. Out of the top 3 players, it can be argued that Thiem and Austria have been put in the toughest group of all four at the tournament. There aren’t necessarily household named players leading the way for France and Italy, but the experience is there.
Group C should actually have the most exciting matches out of all the groups, just solely because there’s a ton up in the air. There’s not clear cut favorite, a lot is unpredictable in this group. A big interesting factor is that France has the strongest doubles team, which could be the edge that they need to make it to the semifinals. The edge that Austria doesn’t have.

Last year Russia made it to the semi finals. This year they have the best odds to not only win Group D, but to win the entire tournament. The country will start its tournament with a match against Argentina. Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev headline the Russian team, making Russia a very strong contender. Rublev is the strongest second-seeded player in the tournament, and there’s really nothing indicating that Argentina or Japan will be able to beat them.
Possibly the most exciting match to happen in this group will be when Medvedev takes on Diego Schwartzman of Argentina.

The top three countries listed with the best odds, Russia, Serbia, and Spain are all so close. Everyone’s talking about Russia, and how their countrymen played in 2020, but Spain and Serbia are two countries with the top players that will never go down easily.
If it wasn’t for Djokovic developing some blisters on his right hand, and the uncertainty that came with that, I wouldn’t be thinking twice about Serbia being the best bet. The tournament is played on hard courts, where Djokovic has won 11 major titles and over 20 masters titles. Without question the court surface he’s had the most success on.
The Serbian team competing is almost the exact same as last year. Filip Krajinovic will be making his ATP Cup debut this year, but the other three players were here and won last year.
