Riding a ten-match win streak, world #2 Iga Swiatek meets 24-year-old American Amanda Anisimova in the quarterfinals of the 2025 US Open on Wednesday afternoon. The won’t start before 1:10 pm ET on Arthur Ashe, and the exact start time will depend on the length of the preceding matches.

Right now, there is little doubt that the Polish star is the favorite here. Swiatek has not overtaken Sabalenka in the odds to win the US Open after round four but it is drawing closer.

Anisimova received a generous draw in her first four matches. The highest-ranked player she’s faced is 18th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia (6-0, 6-3), who does not always excel on hardcourt. Jaqueline Cristian is the only woman to take a set off Anisimova so far in this tournament.

Swiatek has faced slightly better competition and has also dropped just one set. She made short work of Ekaterina Alexandrova in the round of 16 behind a 6-3, 6-1 drubbing. The Polish star will be going up against her third seeded opponent in this final grand slam of the 2025 season.

Both players come into this quarterfinal with solid form. The question may be do the nerves creep in on Anisimova? Her only previous meeting with Swiatek came in the Wimbledon final earlier this season, and she failed to win a single game.

Few expected a double bagel on such a big stage.

Anisimova’s best surface is undoubtedly hardcourt, though, and this match doesn’t quite have the pressure of a grand-slam final.

Can Anisimov make this an intriguing match? All signs point toward a closer contest than at Wimbledon – it certainly can’t get more lopsided.

However, Swiatek seems to have more of a grasp on the bigger, more crucial points. It is why the belief in a straight sets win is still in play for Swiatek.

Anisimova vs Swiatek Prediction & Picks

  • Both players win a set (+165 at Caesars)

The Swiatek game on hardcourt is a little different and a bit more vulnerable. See her matches against Aryna Sabalenka as prime examples of how Swiatek can be vulnerable on this surface. Can Anisimova at least make the Polish player doubt her game a little? If not, this could again be a fairly short match.

One thing Swiatek has is plenty of confidence. Her latest winning streak has her on the verge of another 50-win season, and 400 career wins is on the not-too-distant horizon. She has won the US Open before in 2022. A second title in Queens is squarely in play and her odds to win the US Open have shortened to +180.

Anisimova is more suited to this surface and her ground game can cause Swiatek some major problems. It all boils down to how the American plays the big points. This match goes short if Swiatek starts to get on a roll. Expect this to be more contested but ultimately a Swiatek victory seems very much in the cards on Wednesday afternoon.
