Krejcikova’s Comeback
Krejcikova has only dropped one set on route to the final. The 26-year old received a bye in the first round, and went on to win her first two matches in straight sets.
She saw herself down one set against Anett Kontaveit in the semifinal, before saving seven match points to win 0-6, 6-4, 7(14)-6(12). That first set was completed in just under a half hour, which didn’t look good for Krejcikova.

After winning the first set, Kontaveit was able to carry momentum into the second set as well, and found herself leading 6-5. This was a turning point for Krejcikova as she was able to defend all three match points that she faced.
She’ll now look forward to Badosa, who holds a 2-0 head-to-head record against the Czech.

Badosa’s Road to the Final
Unlike her final opponent, the Spaniard didn’t receive a bye in the first round, and has actually had a fairly tough road to the finals.
Despite having not gone up against a seeded player until now, she has gone up against and defeated impressive opponents, including Jelena Ostapenko, Ajla Tomljanovic, Belinda Bencic, and most recently Daria Kasatkina.

In her semifinal match against Kasatkina, she recorded 26 winners to her opponent’s 12, and managed to win the first 14 of 16 points to win 6-2, 6-2, in just over an hour.
With the win, Badosa now enters her third WTA final of her career.
Head-to-Head
This is the third meeting between the two players, with Badosa leading the head-to-head 2-0. Both meetings came back in 2021, with the first meeting happening at the Madrid Open, and the most recent being The BNP Paribas Open. Badosa won in straight sets both time.

Best Bet
Coincidentally neither Krejcikova or Badosa’s favorite surface is hardcourt. The two have better records on clay. But it was last year that they both began to prove themselves on this surface.
Both players have the capabilities to win this match. Krejcikova is coming off a strong win that she’ll hope carries over to the final, but as mentioned above, Badosa has been tested more this week.
Despite both finding success on clay, the two have different styles of play. Krejcikova relies less on her power and more on her variety, which she’s sure to put on display. This skill is most likely due to her success as a doubles player.
Badosa doesn’t carry as much variety into her game as she does power. She’ll come out aggressive, and try to outpower the 26-year old.
Regardless of the winner her, this final match will be a tight one, so don’t be surprised if it goes the distance.
