Odds taken August 15
Jennifer Brady
Brady kick-started the tournament by steamrolling past Great Britain’s Heather Watson 6-2, 6-1.
The 25-year-old kept her high level play, next ousting sixth-seeded Magda Linette of Poland 6-2, 6-3. Brady hit seven aces and converted all four of her break point opportunities.
Brady continued her high level of play, demolishing world No. 48 Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic 6-1, 6-2 in the quarterfinals. The UCLA star’s dominant performance landed her in her fourth WTA semifinal, but she has yet to be in a final.

Coco Gauff
Rising-star Gauff will be in her second WTA semifinal, defeating No. 8 seed Ons Jabeur of Tunisia 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. The 16-year-old sensation showed her mental toughness, fighting from 6-4, 4-2 down to win the match.
Gauff needed that resolve earlier as well, in the round of 32. The Florida native rallied from 5-3 down in the second set against Caroline Dolehide.
Her best performance, however, was in the quarterfinal, neutralizing big hitter and No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka, eventually taking it in three close sets 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-4.

On their path to the semifinals, Gauff lost two sets, while Brady has yet to give up one.
Brady is definitely the fresher of the two, playing 37 games less than Gauff, and spending less time on court.
The 5’10 Pennsylvania native has come out firing with her big forehand and serves. Though it won’t be an easy task, it looks like Brady’s weapons will give her the edge to overcome Gauff.
The pick: Jennifer Brady (-148)
