The Western & Southern Open, also known as the Cincinnati Masters is well underway, and down to the final eight men. The quarterfinals of the tournament will take place today, Friday, August 20th. Second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas will be taking on 12th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in one of the four quarterfinal matches.

Unsurprisingly Tsitsipas will be entering this match as the favorite. The Greek is currently ranked at a career-high World No.3, and has been a favorite to win this tournament since the start. But the young Canadian is coming of a strong win over Matteo Berrettini, and showed that he can cause some trouble.

Take a look at the odds and how both players made their way to the quarterfinals below.

Auger-Aliassime Upsets Berrettini

The 21-year old will look to bring all the momentum and confidence he received from his Round of 16 win into this match. Auger-Aliassime absolutely dominated his match over Berrettini winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

The Canadian entered the match as the underdog, and managed to set the tone right off the bat. He saw himself landing 63 percent of his first serves, and able to translate those into points 88 percent of the time. That was a big difference in the game, as his opponent was only landing 59 percent of his first serves and only managed a 65 win percentage when landing them.

He’ll know look forward to Tsitsipas who he knows fairly well. He started his career off able to beat the Greek, but unfortunately hasn’t been able to record a win against him since 2019. He’ll look to change that today.

The Favorite

The second seed had a slight hiccup in his Round of 16 match when he saw him down a set. But after a three-set battle, he found himself in the quarterfinals. Tsitsipas defeated Lorenzo Sonego 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.

A favorite to win the tournament outright, Tsitsipas has had two tricky matches that have tested all aspects of his game. But there’s a reason he one of the best on tour, and has achieved a 45-13 record this year.

The 23-year old was pretty consistent in his Round of 16 match, recording seven aces and only two double faults. He was really consistent on his serve, landing 75 percent of his first serves, and winning 76 percent on those landed, while following it up with a 75 win percentage on his second serves.

He’ll look to take on Auger-Aliassime today who he knows pretty well. The young Canadian has caused trouble in the past, but Tsitsipas has found a way to defeat him in recent years.

Head-to-Head

This quarterfinal match will be the seventh meeting between these two young players. Tsitsipas has won the last four meetings between the two, currently leading their head-to-head at 4-2.

The two have played each other twice this year already, with their most recent meeting coming in the quarterfinals in Barcelona, where Tsitsipas won in straight sets.

Best Bet

Both Auger-Aliassime and Tsitsipas have very powerful serves. Tsitsipas has only managed to be broken once all tournament, and has maintained an average of 68 percent on landing his first serves.

The young Canadian has been able to hone in on his serves and powerful forehand as well, but a big thing for him is his unforced errors. He’ll have to find a way to minimize them if he wants a chance here. Tsitsipas is too good, and will gladly cash in on any mistakes that Auger-Aliassime makes.

The 21-year old has shown to be an issue to many high ranked opponents in the past, and I think he’ll put up a fight against Tsitsipas. But the Greek’s experience here will most likely give him the edge to earn him a spot in the semifinals. But don’t be surprised if Auger-Aliassime sneaks a set away.

Best Bet: Ov 22.5 sets (+180); Tsitsipas in three (+295)
