The Favorite
Despite suffering a thigh injury just a few days ago, Swiatek is confident that she’ll be good to go for the French Open next week. The Pole withdrew from her quarterfinal match in the third set against Elena Rybakina on Wednesday, but has reassured everyone that she’s okay.

At just 21-years old, Swiatek is on the hunt for her third French Open title. And prior to withdrawing from the Italian Open, she was riding a 14-match win streak.

Who to Watch

Sablenka and Rybakina are the two other obvious choices to keep your eye on. Both players have the ability to make it far in the tournament. Obviously a lot of this can depend on the draw, and we won’t find that out until Thursday.

Sabalenka is coming off a first round exit at the Italian Open, but the 25-year old has had a strong year so far. The first round exit is the first of the year for her, with her worst showing this year being a quarterfinal appearance.

As we know, Rybakina did defeat Swiatek at the Italian Open with the Pole retiring from the match. But Rybakina did go on to win the tournament, so she’ll be entering the French Open with a ton of confidence.

There’s only a handful of players that have been able to take a match away from Swiatek. But these two have been able to win multiple matches against her, so depending on what the draw looks like, these two could make it interesting.

French Open Best Bet

Right now, it has to be Swiatek.

We’ll be able to see pretty early on if this thigh injury is going to be an issue for her. But if it’s not, then it seems like a pretty easy decision that she’s the one to beat. Clay court is her best surface, and not many people have been able to actually beat her on it. Her style of play lends itself well to the surface. She’s able to outplay and outlast her opponents on the slower surface.

If we see Swiatek end her tournament early due to a loss or injury, then look to Rybakina or Sabalenka. Rybakina has been playing exceptionally well as of late, and Sabalenka already has a Grand Slam to her name this year, after winning the Australian Open in January.

Best Bet: Iga Swiatek (-140)
