Sakkari’s two other wins over Swiatek came at the French Open and Ostrava Open earlier this year, where she also won in straight sets.
She’ll now look to continue her career-defining season with another win at the year end tournament as she faces another tough opponent in Badosa.
Badosa Upsets Sabalenka
Seventh seed Badosa opened up her tournament upsetting first seed and World No. 2 Sabalenka in straight sets, winning 6-4, 6-0, on Thursday. The Spaniard has now won her past seven matches, dating back to Indian Wells.

Best Bet
Both players are capable of winning this match. The two have shown aggressive, efficient play, while being able to adapt to conditions and opponent’s style of play.
Sakkari showcased a strong serve in her match against Swiatek, and if she’s able to continue that, she’ll cause issues for Badosa on the return.
Badosa showed her determination and willingness to compete on Thursday when she went down, and was able to piece together a comeback. She’ll have to be stronger out the gate against Sakkari if she wants to take the match. If she has a slow start again, it could be dangerous.
Regardless of the winner here, look for the match to go the distance.
Best Bet: Over 2.5 sets (+108)
