Tsitsipas Eases into Quarterfinal

As the fifth seed, Tsitsipas received a bye through the first round, and opened his tournament up against England’s Dan Evans. After a 6-3, 6-4 win, he went onto play Corentin Moutet in the round of 16.

Much like his opening match, his round of 16 match went fairly similar. He controlled the pace of the match from start to finish, and didn’t give his opponent much space or opportunity to gain and momentum.

Despite not landing many of his first serves, he managed a 91 win percentage when landing them. If he’s able to keep that number while landing more of his first serves, he’ll make it difficult for Tommy. The Greek also didn’t face a single break point against Moutet.

Paul Continues to Upset in Paris

The 25-year old American has had himself quite a week in Paris. Paul opened up his tournament with a straight set win over Roberto Bautista Agut, to set up a second round match against Rafael Nadal. Paul stunned the crown and Nadal himself when he pieced together a comeback after losing the first set. He went onto defeat Nadal 3-6, 7(7)-6(5), 6-1.

After defeating Nadal, it didn’t get any easier for the American as he went up against Pablo Carreno Busta in the round of 16. But Paul put on a masterclass, hitting 24 winners to just seven unforced errors, defeating the Spaniard 6-4, 6-4, to book his spot in the quarterfinals.

Third Career Meeting

This will be the first time Tsitsipas and Paul have faced each other this year, but the two have played each other twice before. Tsitsipas currently holds the head-to-head edge with a 2-0 lead, winning their match in 2019 and 2021. Most recently they played each other in France.

Both of their previous matches have been played on an outdoor court surface, and Tsitsipas won in straight sets.

Tsitsipas vs Paul Pick

This will be an interesting match for sure. Tsitsipas is the favorite, but it’ll be interesting to see how Paul comes out. The American is playing some of his best tennis, but Tsitsipas will once again be a tough opponent.

Historically Tsitsipas hasn’t enjoyed playing in Paris, but he seems to have turned over a new leaf this year. Paul might have the chance to steal a set and maybe win, but this could really go either way. Because of that, look for the match to go the distance.

Best Bet: Over 2.5 sets (+130)
