Murray vs Tsitsipas Prediction

It’s hard to know how the Wimbledon odds might have changed, had rain not decimated the first-round schedule and had Stefanos Tsitsipas facing Andy Murray on less than 24 hours rest, after a mentally and physically gruelling first round.

But that’s how it is. Tsitsipas dispatched former Grand Slam champion Dominic Thiem in the fifth and deciding set, in the 10-point tiebreak late Wednesday – a match begun on Tuesday.

And now the Greek star takes to famed Centre Court or the first time in his career Thursday evening to play the two-time Wimbledon champion and home hero.

He knows no one will be supporting him – “This isn’t my first rodeo,” he joked after his win over Thiem. And Tsitsipas (despite being a former Wimbledon junior doubles champion) is an absolutely pedestrian 18-15 in his career at the top level on grass.

Tsitsipas has made the second week only once – barely, losing in the round of 16. And he has lost in the first round three times in five previous visits.

Murray dismantled countryman Ryan Peniston on Centre Court Tuesday (one of only eight matches completed on the day), giving up just four games. He even bantered with eight-time champion Roger Federer.

And he had more than two full days to recover. Unlike Tsitsipas.

Murray vs Tsitsipas Pick: Murray in Four Sets (+275)

Stephens vs Vekic Prediction

American Sloane Stephens, the 2017 US Open champion, is a mystery wrapped in an enigma.

She can play lights out, or she can go down with nary a whimper. And there doesn’t seem to be much in between.

The 30-year-old has made the second week at Wimbledon only once in 10 previous tries, and even that was only a quarterfinal and was a decade ago.

Stephens he must not think much of her chances, since she didn’t even play a single warmup tournament. While others were sliding on the grass, she was in Montreal for Grand Prix weekend.

And then, she came out Wednesday and put down a comprehensive 6-2, 6-3 win over Sweden’s Rebecca Peterson in the first round.

Vekic had an easy first round against Zhang Shuai.

The two met in the first round at Wimbledon in 2018. And it was an easy win by Vekic over Stephens, who had made the French Open final less than a month before.

Vekic made the Berlin final a few weeks ago. And she’s playing arguably the best tennis of her career. As much as Stephens is capable of coming up with a big match against all odds, Vekic is too good and too experienced to let it get away from her. Back her to win in your Wimbledon picks today.

Stephens vs Vekic Pick: Vekic in Two Sets (+100)

Fernandez vs Garcia Prediction

The 20-year-old Canadian and the 29-year-old Frenchwoman meet for the third time this year.

Will the third time be the charm for Fernandez?

Her lack of experience on the grass – she won her first career Wimbledon match in ther first round – is in stark contrast to that of Garcia, who is playing her 10th Wimbledon.

But Garcia, whose aggressive, forward-thinking game you would think would thrive on grass, has only made the round of 16 twice at the All-England Club.

And she doesn’t come in 100 percent healthy, from the looks of it, retiring in her quarterfinal at Eastbourne against Daria Kasatkina.

Fernandez vs Garcia Match History

Year Tournament Surface Score Winner
2023 Indian Wells (3R) Outdoor Hard 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-1 Garcia
2023 Australian Open (2R) Outdoor Hard 7-6 (5), 7-5 Garcia

Their two previous matches this year were very competitive. And with Fernandez struggling this year – she shed coach Julian Alonso in the last few weeks – she may feel she has little to lose and will just go for it. As the favorite in the Wimbledon odds, Garcia has been known to get tight.

Fernandez vs Garcia Pick: Over 2.5 Sets (+135)
