- Serena Williams has only lost one set in the entire Rogers Cup
- Bianca Andreescu is the first Canadian to reach the Rogers Cup finals in 50 years
- Andresscu is 1-0 in her head-to-head matchups with Williams
The women’s side of the Rogers Cup has reached the final as Serena Williams will take on Bianca Andreescu. Andreescu has had a memorable run, becoming the first Canadian women to reach the final in 50 years, but can she seal the deal? Serena Williams is a big favorite but Andreescu has a good shot.
WTA Rogers Cup Final Odds
Finals Matchup | Moneyline Odds | Spread | Over-Under |
---|---|---|---|
Bianca Andreescu | +2.5 (-105) | +150 | O 21.5 (-120) |
Serena Williams | -2.5 (-125) | -170 | U 21.5 (-110) |
Andreescu has been Impressive
Andreescu has had a magical run this week, fueled by the hometown crowd cheering her on. She’s had a number of close calls early on in this event, needing three sets in all of her matches except the semis. In her latest match, she took care of a red-hot Sofia Kenin, ousting her in straight sets.

Williams Survives Qualifier Bouzkova
Marie Bouzkova had been one of the biggest surprises of the tournament as she had made it to the final four as a qualifier. Bouzkova had bounced Sloane Stephens as well as Wimbledon champion Simona Halep. She had a really impressive start, winning the first set 6-1, but then the wheels fell off.
Williams has been up and down this season but she’s been up in this tournament. Outside of a shaky first set against Bouzkova where she had a plethora of unforced errors, she’s been nearly flawless. That first-set loss was the first set that she had dropped all tournament.

Williams has played some really good competition too, including Naomi Osaka, who she had never previously defeated or taken a set from. Her serve is working really well and she’s moving around the court quite well. That’s what led to her comeback in the last two sets where she refocused and dominated.

Can Andreescu Stun Serena?
The majority of bettors will bet Serena in this spot without thinking twice but just like the semifinals, this will not be an easy match for her. Andreescu has already defeated No. 5 Kiki Bertens and No. 3 Karolina Pliskova, two players have been playing very well this season. The crowd will also be behind her as she’s playing in her home town.
At the end of the day, this match comes down to what Serena will or won’t do. If she comes out sloppy like she did in the first set against Bouzkova, rife with double faults and unforced errors, Andreescu will take advantage. Bouzkova was a confident qualifier but she’s not capable of beating Serena at her best.

Andreescu, on the other hand, will be able to push a teetering Serena more so – especially with the crowd behind her. She’s 1-0 against her head-to-head. Even so, Williams has played as well as she’s played this year, so I expect her to take this tournament. It’s been a special week for Andreescu but in the end, she’ll fall just short.
