Two huge games will go underway this Friday in the 2014 World Cup as France and Germany clash, and Brazil takes on Colombia in the start of the quarterfinals round.

Here are the World Cup Picks for this Friday:

France vs. Germany, Quarterfinals, 12 PM ET

France vs. Germany combines history and good football, and the clash in the 2014 World Cup quarterfinals is as good as it gets.

France has won three of their last four games, only drawing against Ecuador, and Germany also won three of the last four, but looked awful against Algeria, a smaller team that could have won the matchup.

“It’s not a stroll in the park in the World Cup,” Joachim Loew told German TV. “There are always some matches like this in a tournament where you have teams that fight hard, where the opponents are defending really tough and playing aggressively.”

The head to head matchup between France and Germany favors the French with five wins, three losses and two draws.

“I hate (defeat) and I always will hate it. The players need to feel that way and they do. It’s not an exact science, but you need to dig deep inside of yourself, never give up and keep going,” said Didier Deschamps, coach of the French.

Best pick: Draw, and Germany in penalties.

Brazil vs. Colombia, Quarterfinals, 4 PM ET

Brazil will have their worst possible challenge this Friday when they take on Colombia in the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals at the Castelao Stadium in Fortaleza, at 4 PM ET.

Brazil hasn’t been impressive at all in this tournament; they barely won against Croatia, couldn’t score against Mexico and had to take penalties to eliminate Chile.  Their team doesn’t look as a pedigree type of squad.

“We will look at how we won and why we won and all the situations in which we did not complete passes or make changes so that we can improve the next match,” coach Luiz Felipe Scolari told reporters. “In every match difficulties are escalating and we need to improve.”

Colombia has four wins in four games, and perhaps has looked as the most impressive team of the eight remaining; the Colombia destroyed Greece and Japan, and beat Ivory Coast and Uruguay without hesitation.

“I already knew that he was a great player and he has shown that during the World Cup,” Neymar said of James Rodriguez, the Colombian star. “Football has no age. It’s obvious that experience helps, but you have to play and put your talent into practice. James Rodriguez is a great player despite his young age. We are both 22, but he has been showing what he is capable of. I just hope that his good run comes to an end and that we can advance, with all respect to him.”

The last three games between Colombia and Brazil have ended in draws, but this might be Colombia’s best team ever, and one of the Brazil lousiest.

Pick: Colombia.
