Polymarket is not available in the US, but it could be coming soon.

In July 2025, the prediction market purchased the QCX exchange, which is licensed by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Polymarket believes that will give it access to start trading in dollars soon, which would open it to US users.

When it comes back, bettors in the US market will be able to claim a Polymarket promo code and trade on basically anything, including the Super Bowl, presidential elections, real-world events and much more.

While Polymarket is not yet available, it is technically legal in the US. The CFTC has stated it would not take action against Polymarket, essentially giving it the green light to operate.

It is currently preparing its platform to be ready for US traders.

Polymarket Promo Code: Welcome Bonus Details

We do not have a Polymarket promo code available today, but when it does launch as a legal prediction market in the US, you can expect there to be something to draw in new users.

One of its main competitors, Kalshi, offered a $10 bonus after making your first deposit. Something similar is likely to available at Polymarket US.

How to Sign Up for Polymarket

Since Polymarket is not yet available in the US, I would suggest waiting to sign up for an account. This way, you can claim any welcome bonus as a new customer.

But because I’m a nice guy, I went through it without a Polymarket promo code, and here’s how it goes:

  • Visit polymarket.com and click “Sign Up”
  • Enter your email, then when prompted, enter the code sent to your email
  • Create a username and agree to the Polymarket Terms & Conditions (T&Cs)
  • Until Polymarket is legalized in the US, you will then be shown a pop-up telling you Polymarket is only available in view only mode in your area

You can also join a waitlist by entering your phone number on the Polymarket website to receive text alerts surrounding the relaunch.

Since Polymarket is not yet available in the US, there are no states in which Polymarket is legal. It is also not available in Ontario, Canada.

When it launches, however, Polymarket is likely to be available in all 50 states. At least at first and until lawsuits are no doubt filed in certain states.

Betting on Sports at Polymarket

While some prediction markets shy away from language like “bet” or “wager”, Polymarket does not.

When you first open the Polymarket app, it gives you a tutorial that includes the following steps:

  1. Pick a Polymarket: You buy Yes or No shares on an event. “Buying shares is like betting on the outcome. Odds shift in real time as other traders bet.”
  2. Place a bet: No bet limits and no fees.
  3. Profit 🤑: Sell your Yes or No shares at any time or wait until the market ends to redeem winning shares.

So, can you bet on sports at Polymarket? According to them, yes, even though it operates as a prediction market and not like a sportsbook.

You purchase shares in the outcome of the game and can trade them up until that game ends. If you picked the right outcome, you’ll be paid out your winning shares. If you trade them away early, it’s essentially like using the cash out function at a sportsbook.

Check out this example of the Real Madrid vs. Juventus Champions League match. Polymarket was offering options on either side to win, as well as a draw. You could also trade on the spread of the game and the total.

Interestingly, in soccer a “No” choice on a team actually includes the draw outcome. But in most cases, you would just pick a team to win.

Polymarket doesn’t offer player props for games, but it does offer event contracts for the equivalent of moneyline, spread and totals (over/under) bets.

Sports You Can Trade on at Polymarket

Here’s a list of the sports Polymarket offers event contracts on:

  • Basketball (NBA, WNBA, Euroleague)
  • Football (NFL, college)
  • Baseball (MLB, Korean league)
  • Esports
  • Tennis
  • Hockey (NHL)
  • Soccer (club and international)
  • Golf
  • MMA
  • Motorsports
  • Chess
  • Boxing
  • Cricket

As you can see, the sporting events you would find at an online sports betting app are also available at Polymarket.

You can trade on futures outcomes like the NBA Champion, NFL MVP, College Football Playoff Champion and more. These are listed under “Props” in the menu of each sport.

You can also trade on individual games or matches.

Betting on Presidential Elections and Politics at Polymarket

Like its competitors in the prediction market space, Polymarket really rose to prominence during the 2024 presidential election.

Prediction market odds were used as a barometer for the race, and typically showed a stronger leaning toward eventual winner Donald Trump than the polls did. Part of that is the clientele, but it also turned out to be correct.

Political event contract markets on Polymarket include election results in the US and beyond. You can trade on Zohran Mamdani to win the New York City mayoral election, the 2028 US presidential election, or the margin of victory in the Bolivian presidential election.

You can also bet on potential events, like when President Trump will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, or how many tweets Elon Musk will have in a week.

These work just like the sports trades in that you buy shares in Yes or No on a given outcome, and can trade them up until the market closes.

Other Available Markets at Polymarket

Here’s a list of other categories in which you can find markets to trade on Polymarket:

  • Finance
  • Crypto
  • Geopolitics
  • Earnings
  • Tech
  • Pop Culture
  • World
  • Economy
  • Mentions

There is some overlap, obviously, in some of those categories, but most anything that will happen worldwide can be traded on Polymarket.

Mentions is unique in that it’s literally trading on how many times a phrase will be said, either by a specific person or in a set timeframe. For instance, “What will Trump say in October?” includes trades on “Jerome Too Late Powell”, “Russia Russia Russia Hoax”, and “Jesus”.

One of those settled as a win by mid October, I’ll let you guess which.

Polymarket Payment Methods

Right now, Polymarket only accepts cryptocurrency, but when it becomes available in the US, the plan is to open up to more typical deposit methods.

Polymarket is on the Polygon blockchain, and uses USDC (USD Coin), which is a federally regulated “stable coin”. You can connect your crypto wallet and deposit with Coinbase, MoonPay or Ethereum.
