The 2014 edition of the last Grand Slam of the season, the US Open, is just days away, and despite the tennis betting odds have four favorites to win it, I think only two have the label of being a good bet.
Along to Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, the two best players in the planet right now, we include all-time great Roger Federer, but is it fair to say he has a real shot of winning the US Open?
“I really don’t play for any of those longevity records, to be honest,” Federer said. “I play because I love to play. And I believe I can still achieve a lot.”
Federer is one tournament away from winning 80 pro titles.
“You know, as long as you’re up there, it’s nice,” Federer added. “Doesn’t matter who you’re compared to. I have the highest respect for all those players and their records, and some are absolutely unreachable. Of course, the talk is interesting, and some things I don’t even know about.”
The other big name is Scottish Andy Murray who won Wimbledon in 2013 but to be fair; he hasn’t been the same since then. Injuries and lousy performances have taken away his anger.
2014 Tennis Odds To Win The US Open
Novak Djokovic 7/5
Andy Murray 9/2
Roger Federer 6/1
Rafael Nadal 10/3
Stan Warinka 14/1
Jo-Wilfred Tsonga 20/1
Tomas Berdych 22/1
David Ferrer 66/1
John Isner 100/1
