We are about to enter September, and the wild card races are tight in the Major League Baseball; however, we are just days away from this going from good baseball to incredible drama. I don’t usually do World Series Predictions, but let’s make an exception and do this one even if it is two months too early.
Baltimore, Kansas City and Oakland lead the way in the American League, and Washington, Milwaukee and the Los Angeles Dodgers have their way in the National League.
Who will represent the American League in the World Series?
The easy pick is the Baltimore Orioles; right now they have the best record in baseball, but their ‘on base percentage’ needs to improve; they ranked 18th in the MLB with .312, despite their lineup is massively good.
The surprise pick? The Kansas City Royals, who turned everything around in the second half of the season and lead the Central division in the American League. The Royals are 3rd in batting average and only lost three games in August against 13 wins.
Who will represent the National League in the World Series?
The easiest pick Los Angeles Dodgers; they have made the investment to be on top of the National League from now on, and for many years.
The surprise pick? The St. Louis Cardinals, who are now three games behind the Milwaukee Brewers in the Central Division, are one of those teams that you always have to take into consideration; plus, their veteran pitcher Adam Wainwright, has had a tremendous season.
2014 World Series Odds:
- Los Angeles Dodgers +500
- Detroit Tigers +600
- St Louis Cardinals +1200
- Washington Nationals +800
- Oakland Athletics +400
- Kansas City Royals +2000
- Baltimore Orioles +1100
Pick: Royals vs Dodgers.
