A decidedly retooled New England Patriots – including Darrelle Revis and new offensive weapons – kick off the season in Miami, where the Dolphins are hoping this is the year they become competitive in the AFC East.

For the visiting Patriots, the news earlier in the week was positive when Rob Gronkowski said he would be ready for the Dolphins game; however, in typical fashion, New England Coach Bill Belichick downplayed his return.

Belichick said, “Well, I’m glad that Rob’s optimistic about his situation. We’ll go through the week of practice and take a look at everything, everybody and see where everybody is at and do what we feel like is best for the team. With all due respect to Rob, I’m glad he feels the way he does but in the end, we’ll have to make the decision that we feel is best for the team and we’ll do that as we go through the week.”

As for the Dolphins, receiver Mike Wallace is ready to challenge Revis Island.

Wallace said, “If he does follow me, it will be an exciting match up. I’ll have fun. Go after it all day long. He’s a good player. He’s a really smart, crafty guy. He’s going to be in the right spots. You have to move him off his spots because he’s a guy that’s not going to be fooled with all the movement, jerking around at the line. You’ve got to get going, get to your spots and be fast out of your break.”

While the Dolphins are banking on Ryan Tannehill emerging as a top quarterback this season, this opening game is tough with Tom Brady and company at full strength. Look for the Patriots to cover and start the season off with a big win.
