The New York Yankees will look to stay hot when they host the Seattle Mariners at 1:05 pm ET Saturday in the middle game of a three-game series at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees (60-49) are on a four-game winning streak and have won seven of their last eight games and nine of their past 11. New York’s 18-8 record since July 6 is the best in MLB and the Yankees are big favorites Saturday.

The Mariners (58-53) have lost three games in a row and seven of 10.

Team Moneyline Runline Total
Seattle Mariners +175 +1.5 (-105) Over 10 (-110)
New York Yankees -210 -1.5 (-115) Under 10 (-110)

Odds as of Aug. 6th at DraftKings.

The Yankees opened at -180 on the moneyline and those odds quickly went up. The weather forecast calls for partly sunny with a high of 87 degrees and winds south from 6-13 mph.

Probable Pitchers

The Mariners will give the ball to Chris Flexen (10-5, 3.75) while recently acquired Andrew Heaney (6-8, 5.42) will start for the Yankees.

Flexen ended a two-start losing streak Monday by beating the Tampa Bay Rays on the road. He went 6.2 innings and scattered seven hits while allowing two runs, striking out six and walking two.

Flexen vs Heaney

Chris Flexen
VS
Andrew Heaney
10-5 Record 6-8
3.75 ERA 5.42
4.16 xERA 4.40
1.25 WHIP 1.31
3.13 SO/W 3.77

Flexen is 5-2 with a 2.92 ERA in his last 10 starts after spending last season in the Korean Baseball Organization. He has recorded quality starts in 10 of his 20 outings and the Mariners are 14-6 when he pitches.

On the road, Flexen has a 4-1 record but a 5.44 ERA. He is 2-0 with a 3.50 ERA in three starts in day games.

Despite spending parts of three seasons with the Mets from 2017-19, Flexen will be making his first career appearance against the Yankees.

Heaney had a rough debut with the Yankees on Monday at home against the Baltimore Orioles after being acquired from the Los Angeles Angels in a trade. He gave up four runs and six hits in four innings while striking out four and walking none.

Heaney is 2-5 with a 6.92 ERA in his last eight starts. He has had quality starts in just seven of 19 rotation turns.

Oddly, Heaney has started only one day game all season, getting a win against the Boston Red Sox when he allowed three runs in 5.1 innings.

Heaney has struggled against the Mariners this season, losing both starts and getting tagged for eight runs in 7.1 inning. In his career against Seattle, Heaney is 3-6 with a 4.28 ERA in 14 starts.

Haniger Hits Heaney

Mariners right fielder Mitch Haniger has had success against Heaney, going 8 for 20 (.400) with one double, one triple and three home runs. Utility player Dylan Moore is 5 for 11 (.455) with two doubles and one homer.

Yankees left fielder Joey Gallo has struggled against Flexen as he is 1 for 11 (.091) with five strikeouts.

Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford is hitting .340 (16 for 47) in his last 11 games with eight runs, two doubles, four RBIs and five walks. Second baseman Abraham Toro (.432) is 16 for 37 in 10 games since being acquired from the Houston Astros in a trade with eight runs, three doubles, three home runs, six RBIs, three walks and a stolen base.

Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres is 8 for 22 (.364) with three runs, three doubles, five RBIs, one walk and two sacrifice flies in his last six games. First baseman Anthony Rizzo has made an impact since coming over from the Chicago Cubs in a trade, going 9 for 28 (.321) with eight runs, three homers, six RBIs, four walks, two hit by pitches and one sacrifice fly in eight games.

Mariners vs Yankees Pick

The Yankees are 4-1 against the Mariners this year and 20-5 since 2017.

On Friday night in the series opener, the Yankees pulled out a 3-2 win in 11 innings. Brett Gardner singled home the winning run with two out.

Many scouts have long felt Heaney’s lackluster results have not matched up with his above average talent. Perhaps that will start to change now that he is with the Yankees.

Heaney seems like a worthwhile play against Flexen, who struggles away from Seattle.

Pick: Yankees -210
