After beating Cyprus in a warm up for Euro 2016 Qualifiers, Croatia receives the weak Malta next Tuesday at 14:45 ET in the Maksimir Stadium at Zagreb.
The game is the part of the Group H Qualifiers to the Euro. Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Italy and Norway completes the group. On the odds, Croatia is the heavy favorite for the match with -2000, 1200 in case of a draw and a huge 2500 margin for a Malta win.
Despite playing good games and showing great football on the last FIFA World Cup at Brazil, Croatia had bad luck especially against Brazil where a terrible referee robbed their great game, and they were sent back home in the group stage.
However, Coach Niko Kovac is still managing the team, not so common after World Cups, where the majority of the national teams usually change their coach no matter good or bad results in front of the team.
This time, the challenge for Kovac is leading Croatia to their sixth consecutive Euro since they have not lost any continental tournament since the Euro England 1996. For this, Kovac called a new generation of teenage talents after Vatreni. Stipe Pletikosa, Ognjen Vukojevic and Eduardo da Silva announced their retirement from the national squad after Brasil 2014.
“It is time to make some changes and bring in some fresh faces,” said before calling four less than 19 –years old players; Alen Halilović, Tin Jedvaj, Marko Pjaca, and Mario Pašalić.
On the other hand, Malta will try to beat Croatia for their first time in the history since they have lost five times and only one draw in their particular match balance table.
