New York vs Toronto Probable Pitchers

Gerrit Cole (12-7, 3.49) is scheduled to start for the Yankees against Mitch White (1-6, 5.12). Both will be pitching on four days of rest.

Cole is 2-0 in four September starts but with a 4.94 ERA.

In his last start, Cole did not factor in the decision last Friday against the Red Sox at Boston when he gave up four runs and five hits in six innings while striking out eight and walking two. He was ejected by home plate umpire Brian Knight for arguing balls and strikes.

Cole has made 11 starts in his career against the Blue Jays going 5-2 with a 3.70 ERA. He has pitched only once at Rogers Centre, though, getting a no-decision last season while yielding five runs in six innings.

On the road in 2022, Cole has a 7-2 record and 3.83 ERA in 15 starts. He is 7-4 with a 3.55 ERA in 20 starts at night. The Yankees are 20-11 when Cole pitches.

White has struggled since being acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Aug. 2 in a trade. He is 0-4 with a 7.38 ERA in eight games (seven starts) for the Blue Jays.

White lasted just four innings last Friday against the Rays in St. Petersburg while getting a no-decision. He allowed three runs on five hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

In four games (three starts) at Rogers Centre this season, White is 0-2 with a 7.52 ERA. He is winless in 17 games (15 starts) at night, going 0-6 with a 5.68 ERA. The Blue Jays are 2-5 in White’s seven starts.
