New York vs Toronto Probable Pitchers
Gerrit Cole (12-7, 3.49) is scheduled to start for the Yankees against Mitch White (1-6, 5.12). Both will be pitching on four days of rest.
Cole vs White
12-7 | Record | 1-6 |
3.49 | ERA | 5.12 |
3.29 | xERA | 4.05 |
1.03 | WHIP | 1.41 |
4.98 | SO/W | 2.35 |
Cole is 2-0 in four September starts but with a 4.94 ERA.
In his last start, Cole did not factor in the decision last Friday against the Red Sox at Boston when he gave up four runs and five hits in six innings while striking out eight and walking two. He was ejected by home plate umpire Brian Knight for arguing balls and strikes.
I’m slightly terrified of Gerrit Cole

Cole has made 11 starts in his career against the Blue Jays going 5-2 with a 3.70 ERA. He has pitched only once at Rogers Centre, though, getting a no-decision last season while yielding five runs in six innings.
On the road in 2022, Cole has a 7-2 record and 3.83 ERA in 15 starts. He is 7-4 with a 3.55 ERA in 20 starts at night. The Yankees are 20-11 when Cole pitches.
White has struggled since being acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Aug. 2 in a trade. He is 0-4 with a 7.38 ERA in eight games (seven starts) for the Blue Jays.
White lasted just four innings last Friday against the Rays in St. Petersburg while getting a no-decision. He allowed three runs on five hits with two strikeouts and one walk.
He has proud parents.

The Yankees’ Aaron Judge walked four times but was held without a home run for the seventh straight game. He has 60 homers, one short of the AL record set by Roger Maris in 1961, and is a prohibitive -20000 favorite in the AL MVP odds.
Kyle Higashioka had three hits and two runs scored for the Yankees. Anthony Rizzo added two hits.
The Yankees are considering activating infielder DJ LeMahieu prior to Wednesday’s game. He has been sidelined since Sept. 5 with inflammation of the second toe of his right foot.
The Blue Jays’ George Springer had two hits, including a home run to lead off the bottom of the first inning.

Yankees vs Blue Jays Prediction
Cole has been erratic in September, but White has been just plain bad since the Blue Jays traded for him. In more of a fade of White than a backing of Cole, let’s go with the Yankees.
