The rebuilding Orlando Magic (0-4, 0-3 away) will be searching for their very first win of the 2022-23 campaign as they take a trip to Ohio to face the Cleveland Cavaliers (2-1, 0-0 home) on Wednesday. This is their second game at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. The tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET. Read on for the Magic vs Cavaliers prediction.
Orlando is coming off a 115-102 loss to the New York Knicks at MSG on Monday night, despite another impressive performance from rookie sensation Paolo Banchero. As for the Cavs, they took down the Washington Wizards in overtime, 117-107.
Magic vs Cavaliers Odds
Team | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Orlando Magic | +8 (-110) | +290 | OFF |
Cleveland Cavaliers | -8 (-110) | -360 | OFF |

Cleveland is an 8-point home favorite with moneyline odds of -360. That’s an implied win probability of 78.26%. The Magic meanwhile come back at just +290. If they did pull off the upset, a $100 bet would cash in a $390 return.
In three meetings in 2021-22, the Cavs went 2-1 against Orlando, beating them by an average of just over nine points, therefore covering this spread in both victories.
Can Paolo Lead Orlando to a Win?
At first glance, the Magic possess a solid core of Banchero, Franz Wagner, and Jalen Suggs. While Paolo in particular has been balling out, Orlando is struggling to put everything together. Through four games, they rank 25th in offensive rating and 23rd in defensive rating.

Monday was another loss, but there were several promising performances. Banchero dropped 21 points, becoming only the third top pick ever to start his NBA career with four straight games of 20+ points. Bol Bol also added 19 points off the bench, while Wendell Carter Jr poured in 17.

However, the Magic were very poor from long range, draining just 20% of their triples and getting bodied on the boards by New York. Jamahl Mosley’s squad was once again without Suggs, who sprained his ankle last week. He’s got no timetable for return and will be unavailable for Wednesday’s matchup.
Cavs Getting by Without Garland
Cleveland is showing well early on, blowing out the Bulls and also defeating the Wizards. They’ve done it all without star guard Darius Garland too, who is still sidelined with an eye injury. He practiced on Tuesday but won’t play against Orlando.

Since losing a nailbiter to the Raptors on Opening Night, the Cavs have looked solid and Donovan Mitchell is the leading catalyst. The former Louisville standout is averaging 33.3 points, seven assists, and 5.3 rebounds while shooting a blistering 42% from downtown in three games. He balled out for 37 in the victory over Washington on Monday.

In fact, five other scorers finished in double-figures, with Cedi Osman dropping 16 off the bench. Garland is of course a massive part of Cleveland’s ultimate success, but it’s promising to see the rest of the rotation step up and get it done when he’s not available. It shows how deep JB Bickerstaff’s group truly is and why their +3300 NBA championship odds could be worth an early flyer.
Magic vs Cavaliers Prediction
I personally don’t see Cleveland having any problem covering here. They’re 4-2 ATS in their last six games and should be able to do damage against the Magic’s lackluster defense. Take the Cavs on the spread.
