Hanging onto the last play-in spot by a thread, the Indiana Pacers (24-28, 16-10 home) might finally get their budding star Tyrese Haliburton back when they host the Los Angeles Lakers (24-28, 11-16 away).
Haliburton has been on the shelf for the last 10 games with knee and elbow injuries, and the Pacers have been in a nosedive since, winning just once in that span.
The Lakers, meanwhile, continue their climb to play-in position in the West. They’re coming off an OT win in New York, powered by a LeBron James triple double.
This one gets underway Thursday (Feb 2) at 7pm ET from Gainbridge Fieldhouse, in a game you can see live on NBA League pass.

The NBA odds list the Lakers as 1-point favorites, with a total of 240.5. This game will feature two of the top-10 scoring teams in the NBA.
The Lakers are fifth overall, putting up 117 points a night, while the Pacers slide in at 10th, dropping 115.1 per game.
Expect both sides to get up and down the court: LA and Indy are both top five when it comes to pace.
Los Angeles Betting Analysis
After two straight road losses to open their 5-game trek, LA picked up a 129-123 OT win over the Knicks Tuesday night.
James led the team across the board with 28 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. While chasing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring mark, he also moved past Steven Nash into fourth place on the all-time assist list.

Anthony Davis chipped in with 27 points and nine rebounds, while Rui Hachimura had 19 points and nine boards.
The Lakers might surrender a 4th-worst 118.3 points per game, but they are among the best at defending the arc. Teams average just 34.6% from distance, the third-best mark in the league.
Against the Knicks, LA held them to a poor 7-for-34 performance, a lowly 20.6% clip.
Offensively, the Lakers do much of their damage inside, trailing only the Memphis Grizzlies in paint points per game at 56.2.
Indiana Betting Analysis
The Pacers dropped their third straight and 10th in 11 with a 112-100 defeat at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies.
Perhaps the one bright spot in this tailspin has been the play of rookie Ben Mathurin, who led the team in scoring with 27 points and eight rebounds.
five straight games with 20+ points off the bench for Bennedict Mathurin.

It’s the fifth time in the last six games the rook has led the team in scoring. He’s second on the team behind Haliburton, putting up 17.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
Newly inked Myles Turner dropped 15 points and four rebounds.
The Pacers’ defense has been a major letdown on this slide, surrendering 123.6 points per game , which would slot in as the worst D in the league.
Teams have been shooting at a 50.1% clip from the field, and a crisp 41.2% from the three-point line.

Lakers vs Pacers Betting Prediction
Hard to handicap this one as the Lakers could sit their players for rest purposes or injury management.
James (ankle), Davis (foot) and Patrick Beverley (knee) are all on the injured report, but are probable to play. Austin Reaves (hamstring), has been ruled out. Pacers’ big man Daniel Theis (knee) is questionable Thursday.
LA has struggled on the road this year with 11 wins in 27 starts. As a road wager, they’re just 2-7 against the spread in their last nine road games vs teams with a winning percentage of .600 or better.
Indiana hasn’t been a great place for them, just 1-5 ATS in their last six meetings.
If and how much Haliburton plays is also a consideration, as the Pacers are just 1-8 ATS in their last nine games. The Pacers are one of the best bets as a home ‘dog, though, running an 11-6 ATS record in 17 games.
And yet, I’m taking urgency on the Lakers’ side to get these winnables under their belt.
Pick:Â
- Lakers -1 (-110); 1.5 units to win 1.31 units
- NBA Betting Record: 25-22 ATS, 1-1 ML, 4-6 o/u, 0-2 parlays; -2.68 units
