Makhachev vs Volkanovski Odds & Prediction
This could be a battle for the ages.
Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev-winner of 11 straight fights, is set to take on featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski on Saturday night. A longtime teammate and friend of the immortal Khabib Nurmagomedov, Makhachev wants to prove a point in his first title defense.
After earning his keep in the UFC on the back of his grappling and wrestling, the Dagestan-born fighter is dead set on knocking out his opponent at UFC 284.

That being said, Volkanovski is no slouch. Victor of an incredible 22 straight contests, and a perfect 12-0 in the UFC, Volkanovski will aim to add his resume by unifying the featherweight and lightweight titles.
UFC 284 is sure to feature fireworks as these champions do battle in the octagon.

Ultimately, Volkanovski has put together an impressive run in the UFC. He seemingly adds to his arsenal with each passing fight, and is as technically sound as they come. However, a change in weight class doesn’t always work out for even the most dominant of champions. As we’ve recently seen with the Israel Adensaya-Alex Pereira light heavyweight bout, and the GSP-BJ Penn fights of yesteryear, the larger fighter often dominates proceedings.
Look for Makhachev to impose his will with his Sambo-style wrestling, and retain his lightweight title at UFC 284.
UFC 284 Main Event Pick: Islam Makhachev to win (-400)
Rodriguez vs Emmett Odds & Prediction
With Volkanovski moving to lightweight, the UFC has decided to pit Yair Rodriguez against Josh Emmett for the interim featherweight championship.
Rodriguez has always had the talent to win a UFC championship, but putting together the results has been another matter. That being said the Mexican featherweight has displayed his explosive skills while going 9-2 in the UFC, with his only losses coming at the hands of Frankie Edgar and Max Holloway. Rodriguez is an explosively athletic fighter, with a penchant for flair and the audacity to attempt almost anything inside the octagon.
Across from him stands the perfect foil in Josh Emmett. The American arrives to UFC 284 on a five-fight win streak to go along with an 18-2 record in MMA. Emmett possesses a solid wrestling game with the heavy hands necessary to end this contest at any moment.
While Josh Emmett is a hard-nosed competitor, Yair Rodriguez possesses a much more dynamic striking game. The 30-year old is a far more versatile fighter than his opponent, and has the skills to become a superstar in the UFC’s featherweight division.
UFC 284 Co-Main Event Pick: Yair Rodriguez to win (-172), Rodriguez by KO/TKO (+340)
