After months of speculation and conjecture, the hammer has dropped on Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice, who was suspended six games by the NFL on Wednesday. He violated the league’s personal conduct policy for his involvement in a hit-and-run crash in March of last year.
Rice only played four games last season after tearing the lateral collateral ligament (LCL) in his knee when he collided with QB Patrick Mahomes. With the Chiefs already used to life without Rice, did their Super Bowl odds change following the suspension news?

Rice Suspension Impact on Chiefs Super Bowl Odds
Before the six-game Rice suspension, the Chiefs sported the fourth-shortest odds to win the Super Bowl at +850. Afterwards, it’s still the exact same number. With KC often a team that gets hot in January, Rice missing the first six contests doesn’t really move the needle enough to alter the odds one way or the other.
It’s not as if Patrick Mahomes and company couldn’t use the services of Rice, given that their first six outings are against four teams that made the postseason last year. However, the betting books won’t be fooled into thinking it’ll adversely affect Andy Reid and Mahomes all that much.
Kansas City Chiefs First Six Games 2025-26
It was a long time before the NFL decided on what the suspension would be for the Chiefs’ wideout. Initially, the league had pushed for double-digit games for the suspension, according to NFL Media, but that was negotiated down to six contests.
So, what did Rashee Rice do? The 25-year-old receiver pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges – collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury – on July 17th.
Chiefs Futures Bet After Rice Suspension

The AFC West is littered with four potential Hall of Fame coaches, between the Chiefs’ Andy Reid, Broncos Sean Payton, Chargers Jim Harbaugh and Raiders Pete Carroll. Despite the difficult gauntlet of coaches, one thing has been constant – KC atop the division at season’s end.
The Chiefs won nine straight AFC West division titles, and can move within one of matching the longest division title streak in NFL history, joining the 2009-19 Patriots.
With Travis Kelce fresh off his engagement to Taylor Swift, KC is still expected to be a juggernaut with the future Hall of Famer in tow. Mahomes still has weapons to work with, including the second-year WR Xavier Worthy and a potentially healthy Hollywood Brown.
The Broncos are the closest challenger to take the division crown at +250, but I still can’t fully trust anyone other than KC, so despite the Rashee Rice accident leading to a suspension, I am all-in on the Chiefs to take the AFC West.
