The puck drops on Wednesday Night Hockey, and it features two bitter rivals from the Pacific Division, between the Los Angeles Kings and Vegas Golden Knights. Last season, VGK and LA were 1-2 in their division, with the former finishing five points ahead of the latter.

The Kings got the better of the Knights in three of four duels in 2024-25, and LA is coming off a 4-1 defeat against the Avalanche in the NHL opening night on Tuesday.

Action is set to get underway at 10:00 pm ET from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, with TNT and HBO Max with the coverage in the United States.

Both the LA Kings and Vegas Golden Knights are expected to contend for a championship this year, with Vegas the third favorite in the Stanley Cup Odds, while the Kings are tenth.

The Knights won’t have star blueliner Alex Pietrangelo all season, after shutting him down with a long-term hip injury that may lead to his retirement. The Kings won’t have off-season acquisition Corey Perry for this one, as he’s expected to be out until the end of the month (knee).

Goals typically are at a premium as LA was second in goals against last year, while Vegas was third. Vegas had the third most points and Kings sixth last year, and there’s no reason to expect them to fall off. Despite these two squads being stingy on D, all four meetings last year resulted in at least seven combined goals being scored, so I like the over goal total of 5.5 (-135) tonight.

There could also be an added benefit as two poor special teams units collide in this one – LA wasn’t strong on the PP in 2024-25, but Vegas was also bad on the PK as well – there might be an opportunity for a stolen goal or two there to jump over the listed 5.5 goal total.

Kings vs Golden Knights Prop Bet

There should be plenty of pucks on net against Adin Hill in this duel, and I like his over 22.5 save total at -125 on DraftKings. In eight of his nine career starts against the Kings, he’s made at 25+ saves, including 29 stops in each of the last three battles.

LA averaged 28.1 shots on net last season, and put 25 pucks on Colorado in their opener on Tuesday. In Hill’s last eight playoff games in the 2024-25 postseason, he managed at least 24 saves on six occasions. If you were feeling especially bullish on Hill going over his save total but also there being 6+ goals scored, those two in a same-game parlay add up to +230 on DraftKings.
