It’s a battle at the top of the MAC on Tuesday night, as the Miami (OH) RedHawks (5-3, 4-0 MAC) hit the road to take on the Ohio Bobcats (5-3, 3-1 MAC).
The RedHawks are the last undefeated team in conference play and will be seeking their sixth straight win. But that’s not enough to sway the books, which have the Bobcats as the betting favorite in the college football odds.
With these high-powered offenses, I’m targeting the total in my Miami (OH) vs Ohio prediction.
Kickoff is scheduled for Tuesday night at 7pm ET from Peden Stadium in Athens, OH, with ESPN2 carrying the broadcast.
Miami (OH) vs Ohio Prediction
Since dropping their first three to start the season, it’s been all gravy since for the RedHawks, as they’ve ripped off five straight, including the last four in MAC play.
The latest was a 26-17 win over Western Michigan on Oct 25 — a game where Miami (OH) needed to rally down 17-9 with six minutes to go.
The RedHawks are the third-highest scoring team in the conference, putting up 26 points per game, and during this current win streak, that number has been bumped to 30.6 points per game.
Miami (OH) is balanced, ranking in the top 5 in both rushing and passing yards per game in the MAC.
They’re also a Top-4 team defensive team in the conference, allowing 21.4 points per game.
The Bobcats are similar to their opponent, but statistically, just a little bit more impressive. Since a 37-9 clubbing at the hands of top-ranked Ohio State on September 20, Ohio has reeled off wins in four of its last five.
The latest was a 28-21 win over Eastern Michigan, which has been their lowest offensive output in their last five.
The Bobcats’ only recent blemish was a conference loss at Ball State. Other than that, Ohio has been putting a hurt on the opposition, averaging 40.8 points across their four wins.
That’s helped push their scoring average on the year to 29.3, which ranks second, a spot above Ohio.
The Bobcats are powered by a rushing attack that’s inside the Top 20 in the country, churning out 209.1 yards per contest. But they’re far from one-dimensional, throwing for 225.6 yards per game, which is third in the MAC.
These teams have faced each other five times in the 2020s, with Ohio winning three times, most recently in the MAC Championship last year, a 38-3 drubbing.
Miami (OH) vs Miami Pick
- Pick: Over 49.5 points (-115 at FanDuel)

Based on my Miami (OH) vs Ohio prediction, my pick and best bet for Tuesday night MACtion is to take the Over on the 49.5-point line.
The RedHawks have cashed the Over in back-to-back games and five times in their last seven games. They’re powered by dual threat pivot Dequan Finn, who’s thrown for over 1,200 yards with seven majors, while also averaging 4.7 yards a rush and four scores.
Running back Jordan Brunson is an additional threat in the backfield, while WR Kam Perry is big play central: he’s averaging 27.8 yards a catch, and has three touchdowns.
Miami (OH) vs Ohio: Key Offensive Stats
Ohio has a 2-2 Over record in the last four, but they missed cashing the Over by a single point last game. Parker Navarro has thrown for 1,786 yards and 11 scores, while also rushing for 500+ yards and four TDs.
Their main man in the backfield is Sieh Bngura, who’s rushed for 728 yards and nine scores. Chase Hendricks has 57 catches, 805 yards and six majors to lead all receiving categories.
Lots of weapons and lots of offense: no wonder these teams have gone over the total in four of the last five meetings.
Miami (OH) vs Ohio Line
The interactive table above will automatically update as the college football odds move over the course of the day.
The line has stayed consistently between 2.5 points and 3.5 points, so depending on which side you want to lean on, you can get yourself an extra half-point in either direction.
The RedHawks are +125 underdogs on the moneyline at BetMGM, while the Bobcats are short -140 favorites over at Caesars.
The total started at 50.5 points, and has come down a point to 49.5 at most sites, though you can still find a 49-point line if you’re targeting the Over.
