Rams Given 7-1 Odds to Win Super Bowl 54 After Loss to Patriots; Is There Value?

• The Los Angeles Rams lost 13-3 to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 53
• The Patriots rebounded from a Super Bowl 52 loss to win Super Bowl 53
• Only one NFC team has come back from a Super Bowl loss to win the next year

Well, at least the Los Angeles Rams can say they are keeping legendary company.

In the 52 Super Bowls played prior to LA’s 13-3 setback against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 53, just one other team had been held the entire game without a touchdown.

That team was the Miami Dolphins, who lost Super Bowl 6 to the Dallas Cowboys by a 24-3 final score. The next year, the Dolphins rolled through the NFL for the only unbeaten season of the Super Bowl era, going 17-0, finishing with a 14-7 verdict over the Washington Redskins in Super Bowl 7.

And just for good measure, the Dolphins came right back and won Super Bowl 8 by a decisive 24-7 count over the Minnesota Vikings.

The Patriots rebounded from a 41-33 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 52 to emerge victorious in Super Bowl 53.

The Patriots and Rams are co-favorites in Super Bowl 54 odds.

What Are the Odds The Rams Turn Two?

Seventeen teams have gone to the Super Bowl at least two years in a row, and that includes the Patriots, who have played in the the last three big games, the aforementioned Dolphins, who went to Super Bowls 7, 8 and 9, and the Buffalo Bills, losers of Super Bowls 25-28 inclusive.

In all of these instances, only three teams have managed to win the Super Bowl the year after losing the Super Bowl. The Patriots just did it, and the Dolphins won Super Bowl 8 after losing Super Bowl 7.

However, just one NFC team can make this boast. The Dallas Cowboys lost Super Bowl 5 to the Baltimore Colts 16-13 before coming back for that 24-3 decision over the Dolphins in Super Bowl 6.

If Not The Rams, Then Who?

The Kansas City Chiefs certainly look to be the heir apparent in the AFC and as QB Patrick Mahomes matures, they should be a force to be reckoned with again next season.

The Indianapolis Colts kept getting better as the season progressed and with a healthy Andrew Luck, they too are a dangerous foe.

In the NFC, you know that the New Orleans Saints will be motivated after having their hearts broken in the postseason yet again. But if we must pick one team, our Super Bowl 54 money is on the Chiefs.
