The Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays won the NL and AL Pennants, respectively, with the Dodgers ultimately winning the neutral-site World Series four games to two at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

The graphs below show the AL and NL Pennant odds from the point they opened after the 2019 World Series up to the final games of the League Championship Series. The odds were generated by averaging the Pennant futures from multiple online sportsbooks.

2020 American League Pennant Odds

Oct. 17: The Rays finally sealed the deal in Game 7, winning their second-ever AL Pennant with a 4-2 win. Starting pitcher Charlie Morton (5.2 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 0 ER) is the man of the hour.

Oct. 17: Houston won Game 6 – their third straight time staving off elimination – and are now almost level in with TB heading into Game 7. The Rays are -115 to win the decider, while Houston is -102.

Oct. 16: Houston’s Game 5 win, which trimmed Tampa’s lead to 3-2, improved the Astros’ AL Pennant odds to +358. Tampa fell to -488

Oct. 15: The Astros staved off elimination in Game 4, leading their odds to improve from +1625 to +900.

Oct. 14: The Rays (-4500) just need to win one of the next four games against the Astros (+1625) to capture the AL Pennant.

Oct. 13: Now up 2-0 on Houston, Tampa is a -1000 favorite to win the best-of-seven series.

Oct. 11: Slight favorites heading into the ALCS, the Rays are no w-380 after taking Game 1 from the Astros.

Oct. 7: Tied 1-1, NYY (+161) and TB (+175) are narrowly separated at the top of the AL Pennant odds; Houston is back at +248 despite holding a 2-0 lead on Oakland.

Oct. 2: The Yankees (+193) leapfrogged the Rays (+220) with the A’s and Astros both at +330 heading into the ALDS.

Sep. 28: Tampa (+305) is still slightly favored over NYY (+313) heading into the Wild-Card round; the longest odds belong to the Blue Jays (+1500).

Sep. 10: The Rays have replaced the Yankees as AL Pennant favorites. They have the best record in the AL and hold a four-game lead in their division.

 Aug. 17: One-third of the way through the season, the Yankees, Twins, Astros, Athletics, and Rays comprise the top five, while the Red Sox (+4400) have fallen out of the top ten.

June 25: With a 60-game regular season and standard 10-team playoff set, the pennant odds have been updated accordingly. The Yankees (+160 to +168) and Astros (+386 to +425) both saw their odds get longer.

May 4: The prospect of a significantly shortened season has led to the odds for the favored Yankees getting longer (+153 to +160) while the second-tier contenders mostly got shorter.

Mar. 18: The Rays have improved from +1134 to +875 over the last month, representing the biggest gainers in the AL.

Feb. 18: The Astros’ odds have dipped a bit from +335 to +385 as oddsmakers and bettors alike believe that off-field distractions will lead to a decline in play.

Jan 31: The Yankees’ +150 odds are nearly twice as short as their preseason odds from last season, which opened at roughly +275.

2020 National League Pennant Odds

Oct. 19: The Dodgers won Game 7 (4-3) and, with it, the NL Pennant.

Oct. 18: Early on the morning of Game 7, the Dodgers are once again odds-on favorites to win the NL Pennant (-142); the Braves are +121 underdogs after failing in their first two bids to eliminate Los Angeles.

Oct. 17: LAD erased an early 2-0 lead in Game 6 (with authority), coming back to win 7-3 and force a Game 6. Their odds improved from +350 to +173. ATL fell from -450 to -215.

Oct. 16: Clayton Kershaw’s October demons arose in Game 4. He was shelled for four runs in just five innings in a 10-2 Atlanta win. LAD is now +350, trailing 3-1 in the best-of-seven series.

Oct.15: The Dodgers made a statement with a 15-3 win in Game 3 to trim Atlanta’s NLCS lead to 2-1. Their odds went from +200 to +112.

Oct. 14: The Braves have soared to -255 favorites thanks to a 2-0 lead on the Dodgers (+200) in the NLCS.

Oct. 13: An upset victory in Game 1 has led to Atlanta (-114) taking over as slight favorites over the Dodgers (-108) in the NLCS.

Oct. 11: On the eve of Game 1 of the NLCS, the mighty Dodgers are -215 favorites to oust the Braves.

Oct. 7: LAD (-155) and ATL (+239) appear to be on a collision course after they both won Game 1 of their NLDS. The Padres (+700) and Marlins (+1575) have both become extreme longshots.

Oct. 2: LA is now deep into minus odds (-144). The second-favorite Braves, who are the only other to have already advanced, are +375.

Sep. 28: Just as they have been all season, the Dodgers (+125) are miles ahead of the pack in the NL Pennant odds; the Padres (+500) are second.

Sep. 10: LAD remains a heavy favorite at +131, but the battle for second is extremely tight between the Braves (+600), Padres (+688), and Cubs (+750).

Aug. 17: The only real surprise in the latest NL Pennant odds is that the Rockies (+1700) are second among the NL West teams.

June 25: The NL favorites fell in the odds with the regular season set at 60 games: Dodgers went from +150 to +150, Braves went from +650 to +725, Nationals went from +838 to +900.

May 4: Like in the AL, the favored Dodgers faded (+128 to +140) while the many of the other contenders (Braves, Cubs, Reds) got shorter.

Mar. 18: The Cardinals were the big losers over the last month, falling from +879 to +1021.

Feb. 18: The Phillies (+1240) have fallen out of the top five, replaced by the Mets (+913).

Jan. 31:. The Dodgers are once again preseason favorites to win the NL Pennant, but the Braves and Nationals are considered extremely credible threats.
